Mohammed Shami sounded a warning to the batsmen for the World Cup.

Mohammed Shami’s career in the last 12 months has been eventful. The bowler failed a Yo-Yo test in June 2018, but made a strong comeback and now finds himself in the 15-member squad for the World Cup.

Life hasn’t been a bed of roses for the bowler, but Shami fought hard to not only reinstate himself in the test squad, but also make a comeback in limited-overs format.

The bowler had an impressive outing with Kings XI Punjab in the recently-concluded Indian Premier League and will aim to capitalize on the form in the World Cup.

In an interview with the Times of India, Shami stated that he has a variety of deliveries in his armour, and warned the batsmen to be wary of him.

“My yorkers are still as potent as they used to be, and I will be using a lot of them during the World Cup,” Shami said.

“I back myself to bowl fast, incoming deliveries and it wouldn't be easy for batsmen out there to hit me.”

Shami will be joined by Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar who will be leading the bowling attack alongside him. However, the pacer insisted that there is a healthy competition between the three and that they understand their roles perfectly.

"We are a happy bowling bunch. We discuss a lot among ourselves. We are not shy of taking each other's advice, that's the kind of freedom we enjoy.

“I tell Bumrah about a certain bowling aspect and he does the same with me. Our experience makes us a very strong bowling unit. We know our roles going into the World Cup and exploit the conditions accordingly,” Shami said.

India will travel to England on May 22, and will take on South Africa in the first game of the World Cup on June 5.
