Harare: India today inflicted an eight-wicket defeat over Zimbabwe in the second One-Day International (ODI), clinching the three-match series 2-0.
An all-round performance by MS Dhoni's young brigade paved way for this big win.
Chasing a modest target of 127, India's young openers Lokesh Rahul (33) and Karun Nair (39) put on a 58-run stand before Nair and Ambati Rayudu (41 not out) forged another 67-run second-wicket partnership to take India within sniffing distance of victory.
Manish Pandey (4) finished off the proceedings with a boundary to covers and India pocketed the win with 139 balls to spare.
For the hosts, none of the bowlers could trouble the Indian batsmen as all-rounders Chamu Chibhabha and Sikandar Raza managed to take one wicket apiece.
Earlier, inspired by some disciplined bowling led by leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal (3/25), India skittled Zimbabwe out for a meagre 126.
The young bowling unit was once again at its lethal best with the medium pace trio of Barinder Sran (2/17), Dhawal Kulkarni (2/31) and Jasprit Bumrah (1/27) complimenting Chahal and Patel (1/22) well.
The teams will now lock horns in the inconsequential third ODI on Wednesday.
