Dharamsala: The Board of Control for Cricket India (BCCI) is likely to announce the Team India’s head coach by today evening.
"Our attempt is to ensure that the announcement is made Thursday on the third day of the annual conclave in Dharamsala. We expect to make an announcement in this regard by this evening," the cricketing body president Anurag Thakur told the media here.
The BCCI is presently hosting its first ever four-day annual conclave at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.
The three-member BCCI's cricket advisory panel comprising cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman had interviewed the shortlisted 21 candidates for the job. Reports suggested that the name has been kept under the wraps.
The candidates who were interviewed by the committee include: Ravi Shastri, Anil Kumble, Pravin Amre, Lalchand Rajput along with overseas candidates Stuart law, Andy Moles and Tom Moody.
On Tuesday, former Team India captain Ganguly had told the media that the coach was finalised and the name was conveyed to the BCCI president.
The BCCI had received a total of 57 responses to its advertisement for the job, and 21 of them were shortlisted for the advisory committee to review.
The trio had also consulted Team India’s limited-overs skipper MS Dhoni and Test captain Virat Kohli before finalising the head coach.
The post of head coach of the Team India is lying vacant since the 2015 ICC World Cup.
