Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli again proves why he is touted as one of the greatest batsmen ever to play cricket, by playing a scintillating knock of 149 runs against England. Before the match, Kohli had only 134 runs in 10 innings on English soil which he made in a nightmare 2014 series.
This has been one of the finest knocks by the Indian skipper as no other teammate score big against the lethal English bowling. Kohli stood tall against the swing bowling of England bowlers and gave India a fighting chance in the first Test at Edgbaston. Kohli hit 22 fours and a six in his power-packed innings while shutting down every critic who was doubting his ability in England.
After hitting his maiden century in England, Kohli showed a lovely gesture towards his wife Anushka Sharma by kissing his wedding ring while she was present in the stands to cheer him. Anushka was delighted with Kohli’s match-changing knock and applauded him when he got out on 149 runs.
Some fans of Anushka and Kohli went crazy on Twitter and posted several tweets regarding the lovely gesture:
Kohli forged some small but crucial partnerships with the lower order batsmen and India put 274 runs on the scoreboard in the first innings. In response, England lost their opener, Alastair Cook, early as he got out on duck and became Ashwin's bunny again. England are leading by 22 runs at the stumps of Day 2.
