New Delhi: Virat Kohli, the flamboyant Indian batsman, has reclaimed the top slot in ICC batsmen rankings for T20 Internationals.
Virat Kohli has displaced Australia’s Aaron Finch to become the top ranked T20I batsman. Kohli is the only Indian in the ICC list of top 10 T20I batsmen.
It should be recalled that Kohli had lost the top slot to Flinch after Team India suffered 2-0 drubbing in T20I series against South Africans in October last year.
Virat Kohli is having a dream run in the ongoing World T20 championship. His brilliant innings of 82 helped India defeat Australia and qualify to the semi-finals of the prestigious tournament.
Even in Asia Cup, it was Kohli who helped India surpass a paltry Pakistani total of 83 runs. As usual, the failure of openers put the entire burden on Kohli who once again proved to be the saviour for the team playing a valiant knock of 49 runs.
The same story was repeated against Pakistan in the ongoing T20 World Cup. Chasing a target of 119, India had slumped to 23/3 before Virat Kohli once again took the responsibility to sail India through and his unbeaten 56 guided India to a 6-wicket victory.
India will now face West Indies in semi-finals at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 31 and Virat Kohli, once again, is expected to play an important role for his team.
