Indian skipper Virat Kohli celebrates his century against West Indies in first ODI

On Sunday, India captain Virat Kohli once again did what he does best! To score hundreds while chasing. Kohli was at his usual best when he pummeled the West Indies in the series opener in Guwahati, scoring 140 off 107 balls to lead India to a 1-0 lead in the ongoing five-match ODI series.

Kohli and his deputy Rohit Sharma, who was in his own majestic best - scoring an unbeaten 152 off 117 balls and India chased down the 323-run target with ease.

Put into bat by India, West Indies scored 322-8 with 106 from Shimron Hetmyer. India ended on 326-2 off 42.1 overs. Hosts India didn't get off to the best start when debutant pacer Oshane Thomas (1-83) bowled Shikhar Dhawan (4).

But Kohli and Sharma came together and stayed until the 33rd over, putting on 246 runs for the second wicket in a masterly batting display.

Seeing another masterclass from Kohli's willow, England's Ashes-winning captain Michael Vaughan was happy to pass his verdict. Vaughan wrote on Twitter that the Indian captain was indeed the "GOAT" - "The Greatest Of All Time".

Kohli is currently the world's number one batsman in Test and ODIs. His knock on Sunday - the 36th ODI hundred and the 60th international ton - took him closer to the 10,000-run mark in ODI cricket.

Kohli has scored a total of 889 runs in just 10 ODI matches this year with an astounding average of 127 runs.

The Indian captain is also catching up with Master Balster Sachin Tendulkar's record of 49 ODI hundreds. Kohli has already left behind most of the other greats of the game and is comfortably placed second on the list of batsmen with most ODI hundreds.
