In the opening match of 2019 World Cup between hosts England and South Africa, the cricketing world had a nostalgic moment when the trinity of Indian cricket Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag joined each other at the commentary box.
While the match was completely dominated by England, as the hosts thrashed the Proteas by 104 runs but the trio of India 2003 World Cup grabbed most eyeballs.
Batting legend Tendulkar made his World Cup debut in commentary with the same match where he was accompanied by his former teammates in the box.
Tendulkar's former opening partner Sehwag also shared two pictures on his Twitter account. He wrote, "Together Again!". All three cricketers can be seen having a chat in both the images, the left from their playing days whereas right one from the commentary box."
While Tendulkar compared the commentary debut to his international debut at the age of 16 in which he faced arch-rivals Pakistan in 1989.
"I know, I am having the same feeling I had in Pakistan in 1989. Now it's 2019, I am having the same feeling. 30 years down the line. I have a microphone in hand, not a cricket bat. Looking forward to it," said Tendulkar.
During his commentary session, Tendulkar also shared some tips for Afghanistan's star spinner Rashid Khan and tell him to "set attacking fields" and treat the 50-over game like a Test match.
"I think he's (Rashid) going to be instrumental in creating those upsets in this tournament. If I have to tell him something, I would say, 'Look, treat this like a Test match. Because even in the T20 format, you've been able to pick wickets because the batters have not read what you've done with your wrist. And you do that, back yourself, have an attacking field, and challenge batters to hit over mid-on and mid-off,'" Tendulkar said on his commentary debut on Star Sports.
Team India will start their World Cup campaign against South Africa on June 5 at The Rose Bowl in Southampton.
