New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today outlined the process to select the Team India’s next head coach.

The cricketing body also informed that it has shortlisted 21 candidates out of 57 applicants for the role. These 21 applicants have met the eligibility criteria.

“Post the initial scrutiny of 57 applications for the post of head coach of the Indian team, 21 applicants were found to meet the primary criteria specified by the BCCI,” the board said in a statement.

The list of 21 names will now be handed over to the Cricket Advisory Committee comprising Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman.

The committee, which will be assisted by former secretary and national selector Sanjay Jagdale as its co-ordinator, will submit its report by June 22 to BCCI president Anurag Thakur through Secretary Ajay Shirke.

“The said committee under the coordination of Jagdale will process and scrutinise all the applications, conduct interviews and seek presentations from candidates as the committee deems fit,” the statement added.

Tendulkar, who is currently out of the country, has already confirmed his availability to the board for the purpose.

The BCCI is expected to make an official announcement after its working committee meeting in Dharamsala on June 24.
