Shahi Afridi thanks Virat Kohli for 'kind gesture'

Both Afridi and Kohli are known to share a great off-field bond and mutual respect for each other.

Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi expressed gratitude to India skipper Virat Kohli for donating his bat for the Shahid Afridi Foundation. The organization aims to provide healthcare, education and sports facilities in Pakistan and around the world. Shahid Afridi Foundation and Shahid Afridi, in particular, is also an ambassador of Polio campaigns in Pakistan. The foundation has initiated many projects including a hospital in Kohat, water wells and hand pumps project in Sindh and KPK, supporting schools, scholarships for students, raising funds for other hospitals and many other projects.

Afridi wrote on his official Twitter handle: "Thank you @imVkohli for your kind gesture in support of @SAFoundationN. Friends & supporters like you ensure #HopeNotOut for everyone." The legendary all-rounder attached a picture of the bat on his social media account. 

The Indian skipper also replied Afridi back on Twitter. Kohli also wished him luck for his generous cause and for all the upcoming events of Shahid Afridi Foundation.

The Indian team had presented a Kohli shirt, signed by all the players, to Afridi when he retired from the international cricket last April. 

The shirt, which fetched Rs 3 lakhs at an auction in London, had a message from the Team India captain, saying, "To Shahid Bhai, best wishes, always a pleasure playing against you.
