The Supreme Court today questioned the Amicus Curiae in the BCCI case as to why some of the nominees in the list of nine administrators are over 70 years old.

It must be noted here that the Lodha Committee, in its recommendations, had suggested that the administrators of the BCCI should not be over the age of 70.

Amicus Curiae Gopal Subramaniam, was asked to submit a list of six persons, as opposed to the nine submitted, who could be appointed as administrators in the BCCI to oversee the implementation of the Lodha Committee proposals, three of whom ought to be cricketers.

The apex court further directed Subramaniam and Anil Divan not to make the list public until its decision. BCCI lawyer Kapil Sibal objected to the list submitted by Subramaniam.

Meanwhile, Attorney General Mukul Rohtagi today urged the Supreme Court to review the Lodha verdict.

Rohatgi, who is appearing for  three bodies i.e., associations of railways, services, and universities, said that while the BCCI is a private body, the decision partially affects the government too.
