Indian ace Sania Mirza and Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik welcomed a baby boy on Tuesday as the husband took to his official Twitter handle to announce the birth of his son.
"Excited to announce: Its a boy, and my girl is doing great and keeping strong as usual #Alhumdulilah. Thank you for the wishes and Duas, we are humbled #BabyMirzaMalik'
Sania delivered the baby in Rainbow Hospital in Hyderabad under the guidance of Praneeti Reddy.
Sania married Shoaib in a traditional Hyderabadi Muslim wedding ceremony on April 12, 2010.
The tennis star had in an interview said she finds motherhood empowering.
"It empowers who you become and who you are," she said.
The couple, who got married on April 12, 2010 had confirmed the news earlier on this year. It was on April 23 when Sania announced she was pregnant.
Shoaib said that Sania is doing great and keeping strong.
Pacer Mohammad Amir congratulated the duo.
The fans immediately wished the power couple on welcoming their son.
The former doubles World No.1 has been away from the sport since October 2017 and is expected to make a return in the 2020 Olympics.
Shoaib was recently playing for the Pakistan national team in UAE, where they crushed Australia by clean sweeping the three-match T20Is.
Pakistan had earlier won the two-match Test series 1-0 as well.
