Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli congratulate 'Superwoman' Mithali Raj on her record-breaking feat

Legend Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli joined the chorus of top Indian cricketers in congratulating India team skipper Mithali Raj on becoming the highest run-getter in Women's ODIs.

Indian captain Mithali Raj created a world record by becoming the first player to cross 6000 runs in the history of women's ODI during the ICC Women's World Cup match against Australia. The Indian team now have two current world record holders with pacer Jhulan Goswami being the leading wicket-taker in 50-over cricket. Mithali surpassed former England captain Charlotte Edwards's 5992 runs when she reached 34, thereby becoming the highest scorer in ODIs.

Legend Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli joined the chorus of top Indian cricketers in congratulating Mithali Raj on fabulous achievement and making the nation proud. Pacer Umesh Yadav and batsman Ajinkya Rahane also congratulated Mithali.

"Congratulations, @M_Raj03! Becoming the highest run scorer in Women's ODIs is a huge achievement. Also, superb knock today!" Tendulkar tweeted.

Indian men's team skipper Kohli termed it a "great moment" in Indian cricket.

"A great moment for Indian Cricket, @M_Raj03 becomes the highest run scorer in Women's ODI Cricket History today.

Champion Stuff!," Kohli wrote on his Twitter page.

 

The Indian skipper now has 6028 runs from 183 ODIs.
