As the captain of Indian women's cricket team - Mitahli Raj celebrates her 35th birthday today, wishes pour in on social media for the legendary batswoman. Mithali has been the backbone of the women's team, helping India reach the finals of the 2017 ICC Women's World Cup against England where the women in blue suffered a narrow defeat to the hosts. The team's defeat was eventually a success as millions were inspired by their performance, revolutionising cricket for women in India.

Mithali made her debut at a young age of 16 and since then there has been no looking back as she has served the nation for nearly 18 years. The Indian skipper is the highest run-scorer in women's international cricket.

She is the only female cricketer to surpass 6,000 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs) as her inventiveness and creativity on the field is truly exceptional. Raj is the first captain in the Indian cricket history to lead the country to an ICC ODI World Cup final twice - 2005 and 2017.

Taking to Twitter, leading the wishes is the Master Blaster himself, Sachin Tendulkar who wrote a motivating message to the women's captain, which is followed by her teammates and many other cricketers.

Suresh Raina, BCCI women and the ICC twitter wished the birthday girl.

Mithali's fellow teammate Veda Krishnamurthy also wished her skipper.

India wishes their Indian women's captain Mithali Raj a very happy birthday.
