Rohit Sharma might have escaped some criticism for his fighting half-century in the series decider against Australia at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Wednesday but he became the centre of a meme thanks to his mode of dismissal.
Rohit was out stumped off the bowling of Adam Zampa for a 89-ball 56 and with him went India's hopes of winning the series as the visitors won the decider by 35 runs and took the series by 3-2.
Zampa bowled a well-disguised googly in the 29th over, which landed on middle and leg and came in, Rohit hurried down the track for a big shot but failed to make any connection. He lost his bat and it went flying somewhere in the square leg region. Carey was very swift to take the bails off and send Rohit packing.
As Rohit fell, India lost half their side and despite Kedar Jadhav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar's valiant efforts towards the end, the hosts couldn't pull off a victory and ended up surrendering the series.
Now the internet loves funny moments and on Wednesday, Rohit was its favourite child as the Twitterati trolled the right-hander brutally for his comical dismissal.
