The controversial Decision Review System (DRS) is all set to be introduced in India when the Virat Kohli-led team will take on England in the first game of the five Test match series in Rajkot, starting November 9.
“Decision Review System (DRS) will be implemented during the Test match in Rajkot,” Niranjan Shah, Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) honorary secretary said.
“It will be implemented here for the first time on a trial basis,” Shah added.
The development is significant as the BCCI has been opposing the system since 2008, when India featured in a non-ICC event against Sri Lanka.
The system had come in for criticism from the Board and then Test skipper and now head coach of Team India Anil Kumble after several decisions went against the team.
In ICC 50-over tournaments, India is forced to use DRS, but that uniformity does not extend to Tests because they are seen as bilateral arrangements.
Meanwhile, Team India is scheduled to arrive in the city tomorrow while the visitors are expected to arrive in the city next day, Shah informed.
