New Delhi: The Indian hockey team on Tuesday registered a resounding victory over arch-rivals Pakistan in the Sultan Azlan Shah hockey tournament, registering a 5-1 win. Just as the loss had began to sink in for the Pakistani fans, India’s explosive batsman Virender Sehwag took a humorous jibe at his fellow commentator and Pakistan’s former pace-battery Shoaib Akhtar.
Sehwag took to Twitter to rub salt on to the wounds of Akhtar, likening Pakistan’s loss on the hockey pitch to its numerous failed attempts at beating India on the cricket field.
Here is the humorous tweet by Sehwag in which he tagged Rawalpindi Express highlighting the crushing defeat of Pakistan against India in the Azlan Shah Cup.
Shoaib, however, acted like a sport and didn’t mind the jibe. This is how he responded to Viru’s tweet: "Whatever my brother Viru say he's forgiven..bcoz he has heart of gold and he doesn't mean bad but he's funny I'll give him that..."
The mauka jokes against Pakistan started during the 2015 World Cup and resurfaced during the ICC World T20 Championship.
Earlier, during the ICC World T20, Sehwag took a jibe at Akhtar in a similar manner when India defeated Pakistan in a high-voltage clash by 76 runs.
