Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has once again commented on the Kashmir issue which may prove to be a major embarrassment for the present government of his country. Speaking at a press meet in London, Afridi had a word of Pakistan's newly appointed Prime Minister Imran Khan.
While addressing the conference, the vide of which is available online, Afridi can be heard saying that "Pakistan doesn't need Kashmir as it is unable to handle its four provinces."
"Pakistan doesn't need Kashmir; it is not able to even handle the four provinces it has," Afridi can be heard saying in a video.
Afridi, one of Pakistan cricket's biggest stars, was addressing students at the British Parliament.
"I say Pakistan doesn't want Kashmir. Don't give it to India either. Let Kashmir be independent. At least humanity will be alive. Let people not die...Pakistan doesn't want Kashmir... It can't even manage its four provinces...What is the big thing is insaaniyat (humanity). People who are dying there, it is painful. Any death, be it from any community, is painful," Afridi said.
This is not the first time that Afridi has tossed up the Kashmir issue, which has been the bone of contention between nuclear-armed neighbours India and Pakistan.
Earlier this year, Afridi has tweeted on Kashmir, "Appalling and worrisome situation ongoing in the Indian Occupied Kashmir. Innocents being shot down by oppressive regime to clamp voice of self determination & independence. Wonder where is the @UN & other int bodies & why aren't they making efforts to stop this bloodshed?"
During the 2016 World T20 in India, Afridi faced the wrath of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after he made comments on Kashmir at a post-match presentation ceremony.
