Veteran Gautam Gambhir recently bid adieu to international cricket and since then India's twin World Cup hero has been receiving tremendous amount of wishes from his fans and old teammates. The latest addition to this list is none other than another World Cup hero for India - Yuvraj Singh.
Yuvraj and Gambhir are two of the best left-handers the country has ever produced and were the pioneers behind the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 World Cup victories. In his last first-class match, Gambhir smashed a century against Andhra and ended his cricketing career on high note and Yuvraj couldn't control his emotions while wishing the maverick opener.
He posted on Instagram, "What a player !!!smacks a 100 in his last first class game ! The man of the finals 2 legendary knocks 2007 and 2011 wcups! Thanks you for the memories @gautamgambhir55 we shared some great and iconic moments on the field ! To Yuvraj's message, Gambhir in his own way thanked his former teammate.
"Yaar itna lamba message, I hope you didn’t get cramps in your thumbs. Should I send someone to massage them, bro? But on a serious note thanks for the kind words as they come from the best One-day player India has ever produced. I wish you all the joys in life my brotherman and advance happy birthday to you. Have a great one," Gambhir replied.
In the 2007 triumph, Yuvraj played a monumental role for the Men in Blue in every knockout match while the 37-year-old Gambhir smashed 75 runs in the final of the tournament against arch-rivals Pakistan. The Deja vu happened in the 2011 World Cup journey also where Yuvraj was the standout performer for the hosts throughout the tournament but it was Gambhir who stepped up against Sri Lanka in the final and scored 97 runs.
