Right-arm spinner Ish Sodhi has been included in the New Zealand squad for the first two One Day Internationals (ODIs) of a five-match series against England. The Blackcaps have added the third spin option to an otherwise unchanged squad from the one that took on Pakistan last month.
According to New Zealand chief selector Gavin Larsen, Sodhi comes in with good form, while also considering both Mitchell Santner and Todd Astle have missed games though injury recently.
"Both Mitchell and Todd have had injury concerns recently, so having Ish travel with us gives further options in the spin department," said Larsen.
He added, "Having won the previous eight matches, we've been able to keep good consistency in selection with our ODI squad."
The 25-year old last played an ODI for his country in May 2017.
Sodhi was recently ranked number one bowler in ICC T20I Rankings has been one of New Zealand's first-choice players in the shortest format of the game.
