In a story of struggle and endurance, an aspiring cricketer who makes parathas at a road-side diner for living, has been included in Pakistan’s NCA XI to play two T20 matches against Malaysian cricket team this week.

Hanan Khan will play against Malaysia on January 14 and 15 at the Gadhafi Stadium in Lahore.

According to a report in Pakistan daily The Express Tribune, Hanan Khan supports his career by making parathas at a roadside diner in Karachi.

19-year-old Hanan aspires to represent his country in international cricket.

“When I was first informed by NCA about my selection, I couldn’t believe it,” Hanan told the daily.

“I presumed it was a prank call so I called them back to make sure that someone’s not messing with me. I am incredibly happy to get this chance," he was quoted as saying.

Hanan also conveyed his gratitude towards the selectors for showing confidence in him saying, “I belong to a region where cricket is not played that much but still the selectors come, watch emerging players and give them chances.”

Hanan likewise complimented the board for its endeavours to uncover new ability. "I am truly appreciative to all the people who have upheld me, particularly the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that has had an imperative impact in advancing developing players from my local Balochistan," said Hanan.

His success steps begin from the moment when he was picked by the Quetta Gladiators during their regional talent hunt last year.
