HIGHLIGHTS OF INDIA VS SOUTH AFRICA, ICC CHAMPIONS TROPHY, MATCH 11

An emphatic show from India and they book their place for the semi-final. The Indian openers, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma showed intent from the beginning but a poor shot from the latter resulted in his downfall. The Indian skipper, Virat Kohli came out and took his time to get going. He was struggling a touch but got into his flamboyant self as he settled into his innings. Dhawan on the other end continued his dream run in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. His was a free flowing knock which kept the crowd thoroughly entertained.

The South Africa bowlers tried hard but it was a pretty low total that they were defending. Morkel and Tahir were the only ones who took a wicket apiece. Rabada was probing with the ball but the Men in Blue saw him through cautiously. Earlier, the top ranked side in the world didn't play like as if they were one. They collapsed to disappoint once again in a knockout. Kudos to the Indian bowlers and fielders for setting up the game nicely and the batsmen lived up to their reputation.

Quinton de Kock played a good knock to go past his past century but threw his wicket in the quest for quick runs. After that, the Proteas lost their way completely. De Villiers and du Plessis were run out due to errors in judgment. You can't afford that at such a big stage and the Men in Blue grabbed the opportunities with both hands. They kept on mounting the pressure on the Proteas and they crumbled under it.

He is sent back by Duminy but its too late as the Indian skipper to quickly collect the ball and throw it at the striker's end. Captain's Chat

Virat Kohli: We are going to bowl. Teams have been chasing well. The wicket should stay the same throughout the game. We'll know exactly what to do when we come out to bat. We have batted pretty well in both the games. Just that we couldn't defend it last game, maybe we were 15-20 short. Ashwin comes in for Umesh.

AB de Villiers: The stats tell you that it is probably not a bad thing to bowl first, but I am pretty happy batting first. We have had success in this tournament here batting first against Sri Lanka. Pretty excited to get a good score on the board now. It's about communication to know what is a good score. Maybe every 5 overs we need to communicate with our batters. Kohli is a good man. We get along really well. We are both great competitors and we are both here to win the game for our country. Phehlukwayo, comes in for Parnell.

14.35 IST: Playing XIs:

India: Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli (captain), Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni (wk), Hardik Pandya, Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah

South Africa: Quinton de Kock (wk), Hashim Amla, Faf du Plessis, AB de Villiers (captain), David Miller, Jean-Paul Duminy, Chris Morris, Andile Phehlukwayo, Kagiso Rabada, Morne Morkel, Imran Tahir

14.30 IST: TOSS! India win toss, opt to field vs South Africa

Brief Preview:

Call it irony, if India lose the game, they will be in for an exit even before the semi-final. If the Proteas lose, then the current No.1 ranked ODI side would be ousted before the last four stage.

A defeat will have the skeptics blaming the speculated off-the-field issues for the performance. In such a backdrop, Kohli will be under huge pressure with no margin of error.

For AB de Villiers, it will be an opportunity to prove that self-imposed exile from the five-day game has not affected his limited-overs skills.

With three quality left-handers -- Quinton de Kock, JP Duminy, and David Miller -- in the South African line-up, Kohli can't afford to keep Ravichandran Ashwin in cold storage.

More so after knowing what can happen to Ravindra Jadeja when there is absolutely nothing in the strip.

Ashwin at least has some natural variations, including the off-break which is his stock ball. The proud performer that he is, Ashwin will be smarting after being excluded in the first two games and it can only work positively in India's favor.

However, skipper Kohli's leadership acumen and understanding of the current situation will be under scrutiny depending upon the kind of playing XI he opts for the next game. (Read Full Preview Here)
