IPL 2019, KKR vs SRH, Match 2: Hello and welcome to our blog of IPL Match 2 between KKR and SRH at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Comeback man David Warner would be the cynosure of all eyes when last year's finalist Sunrisers Hyderabad open their campaign against two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders in the 12th Indian Premier League in Kolkata on Sunday. Under Warner's captain, Sunrisers won their maiden IPL title in 2016 and in 2017 he was the leading run-getter for his team. In KKR's camp, skipper Dinesh Karthik will look to make most of the IPL opportunity to get the selectors' attention. Taking charge of the team after Gautam Gambhir's exit, Karthik led KKR to a third-place finish following their loss to SRH in the second eliminator last year. At the end of the 16th over in the second innings, Kolkata seemed down and out again, needing 59 from the final 4 overs. But the end is what matters.

Never advisable to go after a bowler straightaway in his first over. Robin does that mistake and almost pays for it. Full and around middle, Uthappa looks to go big but mistimes it. He gets a massive top edge which goes nowhere except to Yusuf Pathan at long off. It is a simple catch but he takes it too easy. Does not even get his hands to the ball and it goes past his hands, hits his chest and drops down. A single taken.

18.23 IST: Shakib Al Hasan to Robin Uthappa, FOUR! Excellent bowling but what a terrific piece of batting. Good cricket all around. Uthappa comes down the track and Shakib fires it in the blockhole outside off. But the keeper-batsman adjusts well, converts it into a low full toss and drives it between cover and point!

17.40 IST: Prasidh Krishna to Vijay Shankar, FOUR! Absoulte precision. A full length delivery on leg, Vijay Shankar flicks it down the leg through the gap between short fine leg and square leg.

17.38 IST: Prasidh Krishna to Vijay Shankar, NOT OUT! Missing leg! That is a good review from Shankar but this is what happens due to this rule. The batsman is not out but the single that he took, will not be counted as the ball becomes dead after the batsman is adjudged out. A full toss, down the leg side, Vijay misses his flick and is hit on the pads. The bowler appeals and the umpire, after taking a long time, raises his finger. 17.28 IST: Andre Russell to Yusuf Pathan, OUT! KNOCKED HIM OVER! Might be a blessing in disguise for Hyderabad. Yusuf Pathan is not a rapid starter and with the balls left in the innings, he needed to get going almost immediately, which he struggles to do. This is a slower delivery, beautifully disguised but Pathan does not pick it at all. He is months early into his flick and the ball arrives much late, goes past the bat and ignites the Zinc bails.

17.21 IST: Lockie Ferguson to Yusuf Pathan, Poor keeping from Karthik. A short ball outside off, slower in pace, Yusuf looks to pull but is beaten by the lack of pace. He misses but Karthik fumbles. A bye conceded.

* KKR owner and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is at Eden Gardens to support his team. 

* Strategic break - Wicket just at the end there and the dangerous Warner is back in the hut. Kolkata will be hoping that this can put some brakes on the scoring and restrict Hyderabad under 190. Hyderabad meanwhile would be hoping that their big hitters can make full use of the platform set by Warner and take the score past the 200-run mark.

16.13 IST: Prasidh Krishna to David Warner, FOUR! CRASHED! A back of a length delivery pitching on middle and leg. Warner was just waiting for it, gets on his back foot and pulls it to the mid-wicket region. Another boundary for David.

* Chris Lynn is miked up and is having a chat with the on-air commentators. Says that the team did suffer a setback with the injuries to some young lads but is happy with the preparation camp overall. On the pitch, Chris says that it looks a belter but wants his bowlers to strike early. On the crowd support, Lynn says that it is nice to have no matches at neutral venues this season. He admires the crowd here at Eden. On his own injury to his right shoulder, Chris says that he is not 100 percent fit, preferring to throw with his left shoulder but is doing okay. On the mindset heading into the tournament, Lynn reckons that Kolkata is a champion team and it will take only a couple of weeks for the team to adjust itself.

* Review time pretty early! Piyush Chawla reckons that he has trapped Warner LBW. Looks to be pitching outside leg, but Karthik, after a long chat with his bowler, has signalled for the review. This could be a bad decision for the team...
