India vs Australia, 2nd Test Day 3:Australia finish the day with a lead of 175 runs. They have 6 wickets left but in case Finch doesn't come out to bat, which is looking likely, then they have only 5 more wickets. Usman Khawaja has looked really good at the crease and held onto his wicket tightly. The ball has been doing all sorts of things when Bumrah and Shami were bowling and now that he weathered that storm, he looks well set to make a big score. Coming to the Indian bowling, they have not let the Aussies stitch a big partnership so far. Picking up wickets at regular intervals but anything over 250 will be really tough to chase on this pitch. 13.53 IST: FOUR! He has touched the rope here. Sweetly timed by Head! On the front foot and creams it through the covers. Bumrah gives chase and stops it inside the fence but while turning around he falters and the right foot touches the bouncdary cushions. 2 free runs for Australia. AUS 89/3 in 25.4 overs
13.52 IST: This Test match continues to thrill. Poor, very poor by Peter Handscomb. Ishant angles in a full length ball on middle, it goes straight on with the angle and once again Peter tries to play it out from the comfort of his crease. Travis Head walks out to bat, replacing Peter Handscomb.
13.49 IST: OUT! Ishant removes Handscomb for 13. Trapped in front! An inspirational bowling change by Virat Kohli. He brings his speedster back into the attack and he delivers immediately. Australia (326 & 85/3) in 25.1 overs vs India (283) in Perth

13.34 IST: FOUR! Easy pickings! Bumrah goes wide of the crease and darts in a full length ball on middle and leg. Handscomb gets across the stumps a bit and neatly deflects it fine down the leg side for a boundary. AUS 69/2 in 22 overs
13.33 IST: Jasprit Bumrah to Usman Khawaja, Sharp delivery. On a length around off and skidding back in, Khawaja gets forward and closes the face of the bat as he plays it towards mid-wicket. A single taken.
*Peter Handscomb joins Khawaja in the middle
13.29 IST: OUT! Marsh is gone! The whole Indian team looks pumped up. A short ball on middle, Marsh looks to pull but is too early into the shot. The ball takes the under edge on its way through and Pant takes it comfortably. Suddenly, the game has come alive. Australia are effectively 107/2.
13.24 IST: FOUR! A half and half shot there. Neither the cut nor the drive to this short one outside half. Takes a thick part of the blade and flies over Rahane at gully, all the way to the rope. AUS 64/1 in 20.1 overs
13.22 IST: Jasprit Bumrah to Shaun Marsh, Landing on middle and jags back in after landing, Marsh works it away to fine leg and gets a single to get off the mark. Good ball, could have been LBW had he missed.
13.16 IST: Jasprit Bumrah to Shaun Marsh, The ball pitches on middle and comes back in late. Marsh gets hit on the thigh pad but the appeal for LBW is cut short as the ball was too high. Amazing over.
*Shaun Marsh is the new batsman.
13.11 IST: OUT! Timberrrr... Bumrah provides the first breakthrough. Error in judgment on Harris' part. Once again he did all the hard work but failed to convert his start. It's a back of a length delivery landing just outside off and then it moves back in a hint. AUS 59/1 in 17.1 overs
13.07 IST: Mohammed Shami to Usman Khawaja, Excellent delivery. Shami hits the good area finally. From 'round the wicket he goes wide of the crease and angles in a good length ball around off. Usman plays the trajectory but it nips away to beat the outside edge.
13.01 IST: FOUR! This is much much better from Khawaja. On the hips, flicked away wristily and all the way to the fence. The fine leg fielder cannot get around to stop it. AUS 52/0 in 15.2 overs
13.00 IST: FOUR! A thick outside edge on this fuller one outside off. The ball runs through the gap between slip and gully and goes all the way for four. AUS 48/0 in 15.1 overs

12.54 IST: FOUR! Cut away gorgeously by Harris. Short and wide outside off, Marcus rocks back and places it beautifully to the right of point for four runs. AUS 39/0 in 13.4 overs
12.53 IST: Umesh Yadav on for the first time.
12.50 IST: The players and umpires are back for the third and final session of play. Big news is that Aaron Finch has not come out to bat and it's Usman Khawaja to take his place. Shami to complete his over...
12.33 IST: Australia's session one would believe. They are ahead by 76 runs. There is another halt in play as once again the Australian physio is on the field. This time, to check on Aaron Finch's right hand. He seems to have hurt his index finger badly and is going off the field. In fact, all the players are heading back to the pavilion as it is time for Tea on Day 3. Australia (326 & 33/0), lead India (283) by 76 runs at Tea in Perth.
12.30 IST: Mohammed Shami to Aaron Finch, Ouch! Finch has been hit on his finger here.
12.26 IST: Jasprit Bumrah to Marcus Harris, Good short delivery just in front of the face, Harris sways out of the way and lets it go. AUS 33/0 in 11.1 overs
*Md. Shami into the attack now. He replaces Ishant. India getting desperate for a breakthrough here
12.17 IST: FOUR! Finch is looking really good here! That's a half-volley outside off, Finch drives confidently and through the covers and all the way for four. AUS 30/0 in 10 overs
12.11 IST: FOUR! Pulled away and all the way for another boundary. Shorter length delivery that is aimed at the helmet, Aaron swivels and pulls it away behind square on the leg side for a four. Two in two, this must make the openers feel a lot better. AUS 25/0 in 8.4 overs
12.10 IST: FOUR! What a brilliant short from Finch! The ball is well outside off, the batsman comes ahead and drives confidently to the right of point. It goes all the way for four. Really good-looking shot. AUS 21/0 in 8.3 overs
12.04 IST: Jasprit Bumrah to Marcus Harris, OUCH! Nasty from Bumrah. This a short ball and doesn't bounce as much as Harris expects. The doctor is examining him for concussions, even though Harris is on his feet and looks alright
12.01 IST: FOUR! Just out of the reach of guess who! Rishabh Pant. A surprise short ball on middle and leg, Finch wants to play a release shot and goes for the pull. The ball climbs up on him and he only gets a glove. Luckily for him, the ball is just away from a Pant who dives full stretch for this one. Streaky from Finch. The lead is into the 60s now. AUS 17/0 in 6.5 overs
11.56 IST: Jasprit Bumrah to Marcus Harris, On a length and angling in around off, Harris sticks back and allows the ball to come at him. It takes the toe end of his willow and runs through the gap between slips and gully for a run. AUS 13/0 in 5.5 overs
11.50 IST: DROPPED! In and out of Pujara's hand of first slip. The edge was always coming. Ishant bowls this on off and gets it to straighten again, Harris is stuck on the crease and gets an outside edge as he tries to defend. Pujara has a slight moment of hesitation before diving low to his right. The ball hits his palm but he cannot hold onto it. It was a keeper's catch but Pant is wrong-footed by a couple of steps in his initial movement. You can kind of remember the previous Test when excatly the same thing happened when Lyon was dropped by Pant. Thus, he is too late and cannot go for this one. The batsmen run through for a single. Unfortunate for Sharma, has been really bowling well to induce the edge.
11.49 IST: Ishant Sharma to Marcus Harris, Good bowling this! The ball lands on middle and then straightens after landing. Had Harris squared up, he was looking to work it away on the leg side but the ball takes a thick outside edge and rolls to point all along the ground. AUS 8/0 in 4.3 overs
11.45 IST: Jasprit Bumrah to Marcus Harris, This is class bowling! Another play and a miss! Bumrah hurls it in the channel outside off, a touch short and coming in with the angle. Harris gets forward to play at it but gets beaten.
11.41 IST: EDGED AND FOUR! Good ball from Sharma, just outside off. Takes the edge of Aaron who was looking to defend. The ball flies to the right of third slip and all the way for four. Virat dives full length but is unable to reach it. Streaky from Finchy. AUS 7/0 in 2.5 overs
11.38 IST: Ishant Sharma to Aaron Finch, A peach! After two balls come in, this one moves away and beats the outside edge of Finch who was looking to defend for the one coming in. There is a slight noise as the bat hits the pad on the way but the Indians don't appeal too much.
11.35 IST: Bumrah starts with a maiden. AUS 1/0 in 2 overs
*Jasprit Bumrah to share the new ball from the other end.
11.30 IST: All set to start for the Australian 2nd innings. Ishant Sharma to get first use of the new cherry. Here we go. Aus effectively 43/0
11.26 IST: Virat Kohli's century and Nathan Lyon's fifer would be the highlights of this innings. The Indian skipper battled fire with fire and scored his 25th ton. For the Aussies, Lyon got yet another five-for and wrapped up the tail quickly once the main batsmen departed. So, Australia will essentially start from 43/0 and it means that India will have to bowl really well to restrict the hosts to a total that will be possible to reach in the second essay. As for the hosts, they have a brilliant chance to get the series back on parity. They will look to bat smart and set a total out of reach for the Indians, while also having enough overs to bowl them out. Join us for the 2nd innings of the hosts in a bit.
11.21 IST: That's that and the hosts have a lead of 43 runs that will play a huge part in the outcome of the Test. It was again an innings dominated by one man mainly with a few others playing good knocks. Their tail hasn't managed to add much once again and they have given up a quite substantial lead.
11.18 IST: OUT! Gone next ball. 14th Test fifer for Nathan Lyon. What a bowler! What an extraordinary bowler! Tossed up ball landing outside off, Bumrah gets back inside the crease to defend it with the spin. But it doesn't turn back in enough and takes the outside edge. Khawaja at first slip reacts quickly to his left and grabs a fine catch. All over for India in this innings, they are all out for 283! IND 283 in 105.5 overs, trail AUS by 43 runs
11.15 IST: FOUR! Is that dropped? Maybe. But that was travelling with the speed of light. Full and around off, Bumrah gives it the full whack of his bat and hammers it right back at the bowler. Lyon jumps to attempt the return catch but it quickly goes past him to the fence behind. IND 283/9 in 105.2 overs
11.14 IST: OUT! Lyon removes Pant for 36. Pant has holed out! End of a decent hand. Lyon flights it generously outside off, Pant goes for the huge one but doesn't connect as well he would've liked. It goes to long on and Mitchell Starc takes a smart diving catch. Fourth wicket for the off spinner. Pant had to go for it if the visitors had to reach anywhere near the first innings total of the hosts. Unfortunately for him, it doesn't go the distance. Indian trail by 47 runs. India 279/9 vs Australia (326) in Perth
11.11 IST: Mitchell Starc to Umesh Yadav, Targets the rib cage with a thundering short delivery, Umesh does well to move inside the line as he deflects it down to fine leg for a run. IND 278/8 trailing AUS by 48 runs
10.59 IST: SIX! This one goes into the stands. Generously looped up outside off, Pant dances down the track and lofts over long on for a maximum. It was against the spin and risky but it was off the middle of the bat and carries all the way.
10.58 IST: FOUR! Pant decides enough is enough and goes for the pickup shot over mid-wicket. A fielder is there in the deep but it is away from him and the ball reaches the fence.
10.53 IST: Starc is back on for Australia.
10.52 IST: India 260/8 (100 overs), trail Australia (326) by 66 runs in Perth.
10.38 IT: DROPPED! These ones are very difficult to pull off on the followthrough. Cummins serves a good length delivery on middle, Pant goes for a full-blooded shot back down the ground.
10.36 IST: Umesh Yadav is the next man in.
10.37 IST: OUT! Caught and bowled! Third wicket for Lyon. A flighted delivery landing around off and turning back in. Ishant gets forward with the intention to play a firm drive but his bat turns in his hands. He ends up chipping it back to the bowler and Lyon is a superlative fielder off his own bowling. Accepts the catch gleefully with a tumble. A sorry shot by Ishant. All they need is to partner Pant out there.
10.29 IST: Cummins to bowl from the other end.
10.26 IST: We are underway for the second session. Lyon has the ball for Australia while Ishant is om strike.
10.25 IST: Australia have stormed their way into the match and the ball now lies firmly in their court. It is up to Pant to farm the strike and take the visitors as close to the Aussie total as possible. Will it happen or not? We will know in the post-Lunch session.
09.54 IST: 80 runs and 4 wickets. Surely Australia's session after the last three balls. India have lost four wickets in the session, including the all-important one of Virat Kohli. The morning session began with the loss of Rahane on the fourth ball of the day. He was replaced by Hanuma Vihari who looked good during his stay and scored 20 but more importantly was involved in a handy partnership with his captain. A peach of a delivery by Hazlewood removed him and then the Indian keeper, Rishabh Pant came in next. He along with his captain looked set to take their team into the lunch break unscathed but that was not to be as Pat Cummins dismissed the Indian skipper minutes before the break.
09.48 IST: OUT! Just as we thought so. Another one bites the dust. That's the fourth in this session and the match has turned on its head here. Shami gone for a golden duck here. Served outside off by Lyon, Shami comes ahead to defend. Gets a feather and it is collected beautifully by Paine behind the wickets. The ball is too good for the tailender. THAT WILL ALSO BE LUNCH ON DAY 3 AND AUSTRALIA LEAD BY 75 RUNS. India 252/7, trail Australia (326) by 74 runs
09.46 IST: OUT! Massive moment in this match. Virat Kohli is walking off the field with India still trailing by 75 runs. Cummins pitches it up and around off to invite yet another drive from the Indian skipper. Virat obliges as he gets forward to stroke it through covers. But this time his front foot is not exactly to the pitch of the delivery and he ends up edging it behind. Peter Handscomb standing at second slip goes down low to his right and takes the catch inches above the surface.India 251/6, trail Australia (326) by 75 runs
09.43 IST: Edged and taken! Has that carried? Peter Handscomb is claiming it but Virat Kohli is not going anywhere. The two umpires get together and then refer it upstairs. Not sure what the soft signal is as when Kumar Dharmasena signals for it his back was to the camera. We're hearing that he reckons that it carried. Let's see.
09.35 IST: FOUR! Gives respect to the bowler on the first ball and then dismisses the next one. Lyon serves another flighted full ball outside off, Kohli gets forward with a big stride and crunches
98.34 IST: Lyon is back on for Australia
09.30 IST: Pat Cummins into the attack.
09.28 IST: FOUR! A genuine outside edge has been induced from Josh coming around the wicket. Pant was looking to drive but the ball moves a little to get his edge and run in the gap between slip and gully for four runs.
09.25 IST: Second miscue from the skipper in this over. Bouncer aimed at the batsman is not controlled well and it almost carries to point. Starc can't believe Kohli's luck here.
09.11 IST: FOUR BYES! Freebies for India. Starc pitches this very short, wanting to serve a welcome to Pant. The ball though rises too high as Pant just sways out of the way and is very high for even a jumping Paine to get a hand to it. It goes and hits the fence within seconds. The trail is under 100 now.
09.08 IST: Rishabh Pant is the new man in.
09.06 IST: OUT! What a beautiful delivery from Hazlewood. He has deserved a wicket! Beaten the bat on multiple occasions and finally gets the reward. Serves this one on a length and outside off. Gets the ball to nip off the pitch and straighten after landing. Vihari who is on the back foot trying to defend gets the slightest of edges. It carries to Tim at a good height. A very good ball that, would get most batsmen out. India still trail by 103 runs. India 223/5, trail Australia (326) by 103 runs.
08.58 IS: SIX! That has just flown off the bat and all the way for six runs. Short outside off and Kohli flashes hard at it. There is extra bounce and takes the top half of the bat and flies over the rope. No fielder there anyway so it was a safe option.
08.48 IST: FOUR! Typical Kohli. Ovepitched outside off from the left-arm seamer, Virat is on one knee and just pushes it solidly through the covers for four. Holds the pose too.
08.38 IST: FOUR! Here it is, century number 25 in Tests for Virat Kohli! The talisman of India's batting reaches the milestone with a lovely shot down the ground through mid off. Great timing and placement. A knock under testing conditions from the Indian skipper. Off comes the helmet and Kohli celebrates. He has a determined look on his face. The job is not done yet and Virat is aware of it.
08.37 IST: Australia have taken the new ball.
08.34 IST: FOUR! Very wide outside off, Kohli drives hard and finds the gap through the covers. Goes to the fence and the Indian captain is into the 90s. Also brings the 200 up for the visitors.
08.31 IST: FOUR! Sounds good and is good. Fuller length and he latches onto it in an instant. Drives confidently through mid off and all the way for four runs.
08.16 IST: Good looking shot down the ground to a fuller one outside off from ViharI. The batsmen pick up three as a widish mid off gives chase.
08.10 IST: Lyon is back on.
08.01 IST: Pat Cummins replaces Lyon for Australia.
07.59 IST: FOUR! Short and well outside off, Vihari hangs his bat out and the ball rushes away to the left of point all the way for four runs. This must give the youngster a lot of confidence.
07.57 IST: OUCH! This one is aimed at the body and hurries on to Kohli who was lining up the pull. He has to take evasive action and gets hit on the elbow. The ball goes to fine leg and the batsmen cross ends. Leg byes signaled.
07.56 IST: Starc has the new ball from the other end.
07.54 IST: Hanuma Vihari is the new man in.
07.53 IST: OUT! Brilliant from Lyon! Even better from Paine! Fourth wicket off the fourth ball of the day. Just the start the Aussies would've liked. This one is slightly shorter than the previous one, but Rahane is drawn forward in defense. The ball drifts and straightens a bit with the breeze and gets the faintest of edges. Tim makes no mistake behind the wickets and the Indian vice-captain has to depart. India 173/4 (69.4 overs), trail Australia (326) by 153 runs.
07.49 IST:Lyon has the ball for Australia while Kohli will be on strike for India.
07.48 IST: Nathon Lyon in an interview with Mark Howard says that the rain didn't help their cause yesterday and the pitch held up well. Hopes that he will get more help today. Talking about his batting, he says it is amazing to have a cricket coach in his brother who has helped him a lot with it. Coming up to the pitch, he has a look and says that the rain caused the ball to skid on except for a ball on Day 2 which Kohli left alone that spun a long way and bounced a lot more than normal, says he will be looking to bowl more of the same. About Kohli's wicket he feels that the Indian skipper is one of the best in the world, but adds that he will be looking to get him out as soon as possible. Finishes off by saying that he will try to use the breeze to get some drift and get some close-in catches.
07.41 IST: For the visitors, Kohli and Rahane will be expected to take India as close to the home team's first innings total as possible. Any lead will come in handy as it won't be easy batting fourth on this wicket. Most probably, by the end of today we should have a fair idea of which way this Test is heading. It will be an engrossing and hard-fought day, make no mistake.
07.40 IST: Josh Hazlewood getting ready for the crucial day of the game.
07.35 IST: Michael Vaughan with the pitch report, says the surface surprised them all yesterday by playing so well. Adds that the cracks have opened up a bit today and should help Lyon while bowling from the Justin Langer End. Signs off by saying that we have had riveting cricket for two days and should be a belter today as well.
07.30 IST: WEATHER UPDATE: It's 26 degrees in Perth with a humidity of 42 per cent and zero percentage of precipitation.
Brief Report: Skipper Virat Kohli played a pivotal role with a workmanlike 82, lifting India from a double blow at the beginning of innings to 172 for three in the second Test against Australia on Saturday. Kohli's unbeaten knock, coupled with Ajinkya Rahane's counterattacking 51, helped India to not only overcome the cheap dismissals of Murali Vijay (2) and K L Rahul (2), but also put the visitors in a position from where they can look to dominate the rest of the game.
