2nd ODI, India vs New Zealand: 324 was supposed to be 20 runs short. It has proved 90 too many in the end. When Martin Guptill's run out was missed on 0, it seemed like it is going to be New Zealand's evening. But what followed after that was just a side struggling to come to terms to some very good bowling. The Indian seamers were relentless while 'KULCHA' then finished things off.(Click here to read in Hindi) (Ball-by-ball commentary)
When and where to watch 2nd IND vs NZ ODI
2nd ODI, India vs New Zealand Cricket Score: IND BEAT NZ BY 90 RUNS
14.28 IST: Yuzvendra Chahal to Lockie Ferguson, OUT! There goes the final wicket! INDIA WIN BY 90 RUNS! Chahal gives this one some extra air and lands it full outside off, Ferguson takes on the challenge to clear long on but ends up hitting it straight down Shankar's throat in the deep. The Men in Blue had to work really hard for the last two wickets, took them 57 balls. Anyway, they go 2-0 up in the series after yet another dominating performance. INDIA WIN BY 90 RUNS!
14.25 IST: Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Trent Boult, SIX! Even better and bigger! Boult smiles. Back of a length ball angling into the batsman, Trent goes deep inside the crease and middles his pull shot quite well. It keeps on going and clears long on.
14.25 IST: Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Trent Boult, FOUR. Wow, smart batting! Boult knows that mid off is up and just lofts it over the fielder for a boundary.
14.23 IST: Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Doug Bracewell, OUT! Doug Bracewell holes out! He gets deceived by the slower one. Tries pumping it over long on but fails to generate enough power behind his shot. Dhawan in the deep makes no mistake and it brings an end to a frustrating 58-run stand for India. Just one away from going 2-0 up in the series.
14.18 IST: Bracewell has played it towards mid-wicket. Two runs added to the total.
14.13 IST: FIFTY! Doug Bracewell scores maiden ODI half-century. New Zealand 212/8 in 36.5 overs, need 113 runs vs India
14.15 IST: Just uses the angle of the bowler. It's on a length around middle, Bracewell swings it over mid-wicket and beats the diving effort of Shankar in the deep. 50-run stand comes up!
14.07 IST: SIX! Bang! Bracewell reaches 48! He has been anchoring the Kiwis innings so far. This is frustrating for India but the home crowd will be loving it. Too full in length on middle, Bracewell muscles his slog sweep over mid-wicket. He is spoiling the figures of the Indian spinners.
14.05 IST: FOUR! Smashed and beautifully played by Bracewell. He's confident out there which has put India into thinking. Bang! Yadav once again drops it short to Bracewell and pays the price. Doug is on the back foot and smacks it through covers.
14.04 IST: In the air... SAFE! Loopy full ball around off, Ferguson skips down the track and hits it aerially over mid on. Shankar comes forward from the deep, puts in a dive but it lands safely in front of him. A single taken.
14.04 IST: FOUR! Kuldeep drags his length short around off, Bracewell turns inside the crease and powers his pull over mid-wicket for a boundary.
14.01 IST: SIX! That's another humungous shot played. Bracewell won't go down without a fight! Loopy full ball around off, Doug advances down the track and rockets his lofted drive over covers for a biggie.
13.58 IST: SIX! That is a massive shot by Bracewell! He has got a lot of bat on it! Tossed up ball on off, Bracewell goes with the spin, kneels and slog sweeps it deep into the stand at mid-wicket. NZ 177/8 in 32.1 overs
13.54 IST: No hat-trick for Kuldeep today! Big mix-up! No harm done. Full floated ball outside off, Ferguson lofts it towards mid off and looks for a run. Almost comes to the other end but is sent back. The throw is a bit slow from the fielder and Lockie gets in safely.
13.53 IST: OUT! The Chinaman has bamboozled Sodhi and is on a hat-trick now! Kuldeep bowls a lovely tossed up ball around off, turning back in, Sodhi fails to read the variation, goes back and across to work it around but misses. It spins down to disturb the leg stump and Yadav roars in delight. Kuldeep removes Sodhi for 0. New Zealand 166/8 in 30.5 overs
13.51 IST: OUT! The last recognized batsman bites the dust! Kuldeep gives it a good toss and lands it full around off, Henry Nicholls advances down the track for a big shot across the line. It takes the top edge and goes into the safe hands of Shami at backward point. End is nigh for the Black Caps. Kuldeep removes Nicholls for 28. New Zealand 166/7 in 30.4 overs
13.46 IST: What happened there? Jadhav seems to have lost the ball in the floodlights. Tossed up ball around off, Nicholls stretches forward and chips it over mid off. Jadhav takes a start across to his left in the deep but then stops. It falls well in front of him and they cross for a run. Sun in the eyes, floodlights in the eyes... Too tough!
13.44 IST: FOUR! Wrong line, serves it on the pads of the batsman and Bracewell flicks it through square leg for a boundary. 10 from the over but runs are not an issue at the moment (RRR is around 8) for New Zealand, wickets are.
13.41 IST: FOUR! Short in length and angling into the batsman, Nicholls stands back and pulls it down to fine leg for a boundary. He will continue to fight.
13.37 IST: OUT! What an outstanding catch by Rayudu at the edge of the boundary rope. Bye, bye Colin de Grandhomme! Kuldeep hurls across a flighted full ball outside off, turning away, de Grandhomme kneels down for a big slog sweep but it takes the top edge and balloons towards deep mid-wicket. Rayudu settles underneath it near the fence and takes the skier safely. He loses his balance a bit but does well to stay well away from the boundary line. Kuldeep has two and India are all over New Zealand like a rash. Kuldeep removes Colin de Grandhomme for 3. New Zealand 146/6 in 27 overs
13.31 IST: FOUR! Nicholls hammers that on Shami's delivery. Cracking shot, just using the pace of the bowler. It was short, it was wide and then cut nicely. Very fast outfield, smallish ground, save your legs.
13.26 IST: OUT! The magician hunts down Latham! Great flight on this one. Generously tossed up around middle and tempts the batsman to go after it. Tom walks forward with his flick shot but it dips in to beat his bat and hit him on the back pad. The appeal is made and the finger goes up immediately. Half the side is back in the hut, 189 needed off 153 balls. New Zealand 136/5 in 24.3 overs
13.23 IST: SIX! Bang! That's into the stands through Latham's bat on Jadhav's poor pitched delivery.
13.22 IST: Shout for an lbw! Not given. Tossed up ball on off, Latham tries to sweep but misses. He is rapped on the pads, they appeal but umpire Llong shakes his head. Turning away and would have missed the stumps.
13.15 IST: Whoa! What was that? Drift? Leg spin? Mystery bowling from Jadhav. He tosses this wide outside off and Nicholls thinks that it will be a wide, considering that he is an offie). But instead it spins back inside the line!
13.11 IST: FOUR! Full and down the leg side, swept fine for a boundary!
13.04 IST: OUT! That was lightning quick stumping by Dhoni! Yes. You guessed it right. Normally when Dhoni is confident, the batsman isn't. Taylor has to go. That is yet another brilliant glovework from the man from Jharkhand. Kedar Jadhav has struck and guess when? (When Scott Stryis comes on air - for those who remember his jibe when New Zealand visited India last). Massive blow to the hosts and perhaps that might be the end of the run chase for them. Jadhav removes Taylor for 22. New Zealand 100/4 in 17.1 overs
*Drinks
12.53 IST: Jadhav to Latham, FOUR! Outstanding timing! A touch short, around middle, Latham helps it through mid-wicket. Initially the ball goes slowly but then suddenly picks up speed, rocketing away. IND 97/3 in 15.5 overs
12.48 IST: OUT! LBW! Certain shots are subject to risks. One should always keep that in mind and read the ball carefully before investing in that stroke. Full and outside off, Munro looks to play the switch hit, but misses. Is hit on the tummy with the ball spinning in and umpire Nigel does not take long to raise his finger. Munro walks across to Taylor to chat about the review but agrees that it will be a waste. Hawk Eye confirms. Now, a bit of a debate from the on-air commentators. Mike Hesson says, Munro changed his position and became a right-hander. So does not that become PITCHED OUTSIDE LEG? But then, rules are made for conventional strokes. The Kiwis in big trouble now, need 241 more from 215 balls. New Zealand 84/3 in 14.1 overs
12.45 IST: FOUR! A near perfect over sees a boundary in the last ball as Taylor plays the cut short spectacularly. Bad ball to end an interesting over. Short and outside off, Taylor rocks back and cuts it behind point for a boundary!
12.49 IST: BAHUT BADHIYA, YEH KYA HAI?' asks Dhoni. An attempted leg spinner from Jadhav perhaps. It lands short, comes after a year to Taylor who is ready to pull but has to wait. Adjusts and pulls it towards long on for a single.
* Kedar Jadhav time. Finishes his over in about 2-2.5 minutes...
12.43 IST: Landed outside off, Munro looks to punch it through the off side but is cramped for room due to the turn. Mistimes his punch towards cover.
UPDATE: Meanwhile, at the 'Gabba in Brisbane, Australia have just trounced Sri Lanka by an innings and 40 runs. That day-night Test match barely lasted 8 sessions. Confidence-booster for Australia but this is against a Lankan side which was walloped by New Zealand not too long ago. (MATCH SCORECARD)
12.41 IST: FOUR! Full and down the leg side, Taylor flicks it towards the fine leg fence.
12.37 IST: Powerplay 2 time. Field can relax a bit. A maximum of 4 fielders allowed outside the circle till the 40th over. Yuzvendra Chahal, as expected, is into the attack.
* Chahal comes into the attack
12.30 IST: FOUR! Shankar doesn't have pace. Munro knows it. He advances down the track and takes on the shorter delivery. Powers his pull across the line and beats the mid on fielder for a boundary. Colin will be feeling a lot better now after playing out a maiden in the last over.
12.29 IST: FOUR! Munro hammers that to deep mid-wicket. Risky but gets away with it! A touch short and around off, Munro swings his bat across the line and drags it off the bottom half of his blade. It was a bit uppish but wide of the short mid-wicket fielder.
12.28 IST: Vijay Shankar is introduced into the attack. Chahal is seen warming up. He will be on soon.
12.26 IST: A maiden over by Bhuvneshwar. Kept Munro quiet so far. A 20-run over followed by a maiden. It's all about bowling in partnerships.
12.20 IST: OUT! Shami removes Williamson for 20. An expensive over but a huge reward for Shami has he dismisses the skipper after a hammering. Cricket is a great leveller. One moment Kane was dominating the bowler - 6, 6, 4, 2 and other moment he got dominated by Shami. It's all about holding your patience and keep trying. Another delivery just outside off, a shade on the shorter side, Williamson tries forcing it through the off side but it takes the inside edge and cannons onto the stumps. Kane has to leave. A big breakthrough for India. He was looking good in his short stay. New Zealand 51/2 in 7.5 overs
12.18 IST: FOUR! A brilliant cut shot played by the skipper! He is on fire at the moment and Shami is not having a good time out there.
12.17 IST: SIX! Another one by Williamson! Rarely see the Kiwi skipper bring out the big guns this early!
12.16 IST: SIX! Wow! Williamson has pulled that one out of a hat! Shami taken for a maximum here. Shami digs in a short delivery around off, Williamson swivels on the back foot and pulls it powerfully over for a biggie. He hit that into the breeze but still had enough to clear the fence.
12.14 IST: SIX! Munro has blasted that to fine leg! This has gone the distance! Kumar alters his length and goes short around leg, Munro tries to pull but it gathers the top edge and flies all the way over fine leg for a biggie. First of the innings.
12.13 IST: Back of a length ball on off, Williamson glances it through backward square leg and cross for a run. Wants the second also but seeing the fine leg fielder charging to the ball, he aborts it.
* Kane Williamson walks in at number 3, replacing Guptill.
12.08 IST: OUT! Caught at third man. Short ball does the trick here for Kumar. He dishes it outside off and Guptill stands back to play the ramp shot. Times it well but not well enough to take it over the fielder in the deep. Chahal does well to hang onto the catch after juggling a bit initially. 302 needed off 270 balls. New Zealand 23/1 in 5 overs
12.04 IST: Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Colin Munro, Wide! Shortish and down the leg side, Munro loses his patience, goes hard at it with a big swing of his bat but fails to connect.
11.56 IST: DROPPED! Shortish and outside off, Guptill gets back to punch it through the line but it flies off the outside edge and Dhoni tries to catch it with a dive to his right. Fails to grab with one hand and parries it to third man for one.
11.56 IST: FOUR! That's hit right out of the screws! Bhuvi angles in a length ball on middle, Guptill picks it off his pads and lofts it over mid-wicket for a boundary. There is a sweeper in the deep but he can only retrieve it from the rope.
11.55 IST: Inside edge... FOUR! Lucky for Guptill. Could have easily dragged it on. Need that fortune early in your innings. Full and outside off, Guptill tries to drive it through covers but it takes a thick inside edge, beats the stumps and hurries past short fine leg for a boundary.
11.54 IST: Big shout for an lbw! Not given. Rightly so. Fuller in length and shaping back in from outside off, Munro goes hard at it but gets an inside edge onto the pads.
11.51 IST: Mohammed Shami to operate with the second new ball.
11.48 IST: Beaten! Clever change in pace. Bowls it in the 120s and lands it on a good length around middle, Munro is too early into his shot and misses.
* Back for the run chase. Martin Guptill and Colin Munro are the Kiwi openers. The former is on strike and will face Bhuvneshwar Kumar first up...
11.30 IST: Shikhar Dhawan though, who had a post-inning interview, reckoned that India have got enough. Opines that the pitch might get a bit slow as the game progresses but should be a good deck. However, look at India's start and their position at different stages - 154 for the opening wicket in just over 25 overs, 173 around the 30th mark, and then 238 around the 40th - clearly indicating a 350-plus score. Rohit and Dhawan set up a wonderful platform but somewhere in the middle, India lost their way. Powerplay 2 yielded 182/3, which is decent but perhaps on a small ground, it might prove decisively fatal. And then, towards the end, the death hitting barely came.
*Two more to the total. 21 in the final one, India end on 324/4!
11.05 IST: Lockie Ferguson to MS Dhoni, It's not a run-out! Ferguson delivers it very full and on middle, Dhoni pushes it out through mid-wicket and rushes back for the second run. The fielder fires in a throw from the deep and the keeper breaks the stumps.
11.00 IST: Ferguson to Dhoni, FOUR! Can Dhoni get to his fifty now? 50-run stand is up! Short and wide outside off, Dhoni jumps on the back foot and whacks it over covers for a boundary. IND 322/4 in 49.5 overs
10.59 IST: Ferguson to Jadhav, FOUR! 14 runs so far. Jadhav once again uses the pace of the bowler. Just stays back and runs it down in front of the keeper. Latham fails to collect it cleanly and it races behind for a boundary. IND 317/4 in 49.3 overs
10.59 IST: Ferguson to Jadhav, SIX! This has gone the distance! Superb start for India in the last over. IND 313/4 in 49.2 overs
10.58 IST: Ferguson to Jadhav, FOUR! Another over beginning with a boundary! Full toss outside off, Jadhav reaches out for it and slaps it over cover-point for a boundary. IND 307/4 in 49.1 overs
10.57 IST: Boult to Dhoni, SIX! Muscled away! Boult bangs in a short ball and Dhoni immediately gets on top of the bounce. He brings out his pull shot and dispatches it over square leg for a biggie. A much-needed one for India. IND 303/4 in 48.5 overs
10.54 IST: Boult to Jadhav, FOUR! Nicely done! Full in length and around leg, Jadhav shuffles across and whips it fine down the leg side for a boundary. IND 293/4 in 48.1 overs
10.52 IST: Lockie Ferguson to MS Dhoni, FOUR! DROPPED AND FOUR! Short in length and wide outside off, MSD just uses the pace of the bowler and lofts it over point. De Grandhomme comes rushing across to his left from sweeper cover, gets there in time, tries to catch but spills it. The ball drops once before going past the rope. This can prove costly! IND 287/4 in 47.1 overs
10.47 IST: Trent Boult to MS Dhoni, FOUR! Perfect start to the over for India. Boult dishes out a short delivery and Dhoni punishes it by pulling it in front of square leg for a boundary. IND 280/4 in 46.1 overs
10.46 IST: Lockie Ferguson to MS Dhoni, EDGY FOUR! Doesn't matter how they come at this stage. Ferguson continues from the 'round the wicket angle and serves a full ball wide outside off. Dhoni throws his bat at it and it flies off the outside edge to the third man fence.
*Kedar Jadhav walks in
10.43 IST: Lockie Ferguson to Ambati Rayudu, OUT!Caught and bowled! Ferguson steams in from 'round the wicket and bangs in a short ball around off at 146 kph. Rayudu shuffles across the stumps and tries to pull it across the line. But the ball jumps onto him extra and catches the top edge. Lockie settles underneath it in his followthrough and takes the skier safely to his right. A knock on the slower side by Rayudu. IND 271/4 in 45.4 overs
*Change of bat for MS Dhoni.
10.38 IST: Doug Bracewell to MS Dhoni, Up and just over mid-wicket! Short in length and wide outside off, Dhoni pulls it across the line, not much timing as he loses his balance but still manages to lift it over the leaping fielder inside the ring. Two taken.
10.35 IST: Colin de Grandhomme to MS Dhoni, Full and on middle, quietly knocked down to long on for a run. 6 from the over! Good last two overs for NZ.

*MAHI time. He has got 65 balls. Mahendra Singh Dhoni has arrived.
10.15 IST: Trent Boult to Virat Kohli, OUT! Caught! The short ball consumes Kohli again! Last match it was Lockie Ferguson. This match it is Boult. Banged in on middle, Kohli looks to pull but the rising bounce consumes him. A top edge is induced and Ish Sodhi does really well racing to his right from long leg, sliding across and taking the catch. Third consecutive dismissal in the 40s for the Indian skipper. Big wicket for the Kiwis. IND 236/3 in 39.1 overs
10.08 IST: Colin de Grandhomme to Ambati Rayudu, SIX! CLUNK! Clean hitting. Full and outside off, Rayudu gets down and sweeps it massively over mid-wicket! IND 231/2 in 38 overs

09.24 IST: Lockie Ferguson to Virat Kohli, FOUR! Aha... there is this advert featuring Kohli in India wherein he tells the bowler, 'Last ball I could not see, next ball you will not see.' Here we can rephrase it to - 'Last ball you smiled, this ball I will smile.' A nothing delivery, short and on middle, Virat just helps it to the fine leg fence. IND 166/1 in 27.5 overs
09.23 IST: Lockie Ferguson to Virat Kohli, FOUR! MARVELLOUS! That is special. Overpitched outside off, Kohli leans into the shot and drives it through the covers. No need to run. First boundary for the skipper. IND 162/1 in 27.3 overs

*Virat Kohli is in now
09.15 IST: Trent Boult to Shikhar Dhawan, OUT! Edged and taken! New Zealand strike at last. Dhawan is gone. No 200-run opening stand. But what a prolific start for India. Not the greatest of deliveries, short and wide outside off and Dhawan rightfully slashes hard. But somehow, don't know how, he gets an outside edge. Was he beaten by pace? 08.49 IST: Lockie Ferguson to Rohit Sharma, SIX! Not from the middle of the bat but it still travels all the way. That's another disadvantage of being a fast bowler. You offer pace and run the risk of assisting the shots. Rohit top edges his attempted pull shot and it flies over fine leg for a maximum. IND 108/0 in 19.1 overs
*Drinks

08.05 IST: Lockie Ferguson to Rohit Sharma, FOUR! You do not bowl there at the Hitman, even if you are quick. A bumper on middle, Rohit reads the length immediately and pulls it away over square leg for a boundary. Brilliant shot considering the pace, 147 kph! IND 46/0 in 8.3 overs
08.02 IST: Doug Bracewell to Shikhar Dhawan, FOUR! That is surely out of the middle though. A length ball not too wide outside off but Dhawan just quite brilliantly times this one in front of point. No stopping those. IND 40/0 in 7.4 overs
07.58 IST: Lockie Ferguson to Shikhar Dhawan, Brilliant yorker! The fuller length ball first up and gets it almost on the crease, Dhawan looks to jam it out but fails to put bat on ball. It was very close to the off stump as well. Lucky for the southpaw. Good ball from Lockie.
