Indian Cricket is soon to be restructured with head coach Anil Kumble set to be elevated as team director and Rahul Dravid taking his place with the senior team.

According to a report by The New Indian Express, the ongoing series against Australia could be Kumble’s last as he is expected to take the new assignment by April 14.

Kumble met the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (COA) after the second Test match and has been asked to prepare a report covering the the national team, women's cricket as well as junior cricket.

"It was a very productive meeting and lasted for about 30 minutes. It was an important meeting considering the COA had not formally met with the players and support staff.

"Kumble was quite receptive to the ideas floated and has been asked to submit a detailed report covering senior, junior and women's cricket after the current series against Australia," PTI quoted a source as saying.

The former star Indian spinner was appointed as the head coach of Team India in June last year and has led the side to a 2-0 Test series victory in West Indies. Besides the team has also performed exceptional well in the domestic Test season, beating New Zealand (3-0), England (4-0), and Bangladesh (1-0) consecutively.

According to the reports, the COA led by former CAG Vinod Rai is planning a structure similar to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

Kumble has been given time to decide on the offer as it would require him to devote more time other than what he spends with the senior national team.

If Kumble agrees to take up the new role and decies against travelling with the team, Dravid will be elevated as the coach of the senior side from India A team.

One other reshuffle the CoA is planning is to disband the cricket advisory committee and instead appoint its members- Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly- to handle cricket operations of all BCCI teams.

The last job of the cricket advisory committee was to appoint Kubmle as the coach of national team.

Currently, MV Sridhar handles cricketing operations of the team and it is not clear whether he will continue in his role.
