With the FIFA World Cup 2018 going in full flow, batsman KL Rahul decided to draw some inspiration from soccer stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Pogba to celebrate the victories on India's ongoing tour of England 2018. Rahul, who scored a match-winning century on Tuesday, was seen celebrating India's eight-wicket win in Manchester with captain Virat Kohli in the style of the Portuguese football star.
In a video interview shared by the BCCI, Rahul told his teammate Karthik about his idea of "having a different handshake with all teammates", which is inspired by French footballer Pogba.
Talking about his new celebration styles, Rahul said: "By the end of the England series, I want to have a different handshake with all the members in the team right now. I have one with Hardik (Pandya). With Virat, you saw it."
After watching Rahul's celebration style with Kohli, Karthik asked if it was taken from Ronaldo. "Yea, sort of. You know Virat's a huge Ronaldo fan," Rahul replied. (Also read: I take every game as if it's my last, says KL Rahul)
On Tuesday, Rahul's dazzling strokeplay complemented chinaman Kuldeep Yadav's magical spell of wrist spin as India started their tour of England on a resounding note, winning the opening T20 International by eight wickets in Manchester.
Young Kuldeep (5/24 in 4 overs) became the first chinaman bowler to take a five-for in shortest format as he singlehandedly restricted England to below-par 159 for 8 on a flat deck.
Then it was the turn of opener Rahul, who smashed his second T20 International hundred en route his 54-ball-101 as India comfortably chased the target in 18.2 overs.
