His love for India is not hidden from anyone as Jonty Rhodes has time and again made gestures that show his affection towards the country. One such gesture by the former South African was seen yesterday when he paid a visit to master blaster Sachin Tendulkar at his Mumbai residence on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.
Tendulkar was overwhelmed by his friend's arrival and took to social media to share pictures of the celebrations. The pictures also saw cricketer Yuvraj Singh alongside Sachin and Rhodes. The three appear to have enjoyed a nice get together amidst Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
Here is what Sachin shared on the social media:
Regarded as one of the finest fielders of his time, Rhodes shares a cordial relationship with the Indian batting maestro. The two have been pitted against each other on numerous occasions before coming together for Indian Premier League team Mumbai Indians. While Sachin led the team, Rhodes served as its fielding coach.
Rhodes bid adieu to the international cricket in 2003 and held the position of account executive in South Africa-based Standard bank.
Always a fan of Indian culture, Rhodes named his daughter India and even performed a pooja for her in a temple.
“I have spent a lot of time here. What I love about India is that it’s a rich mix of culture, heritage and tradition,” he had once said.
