Zohra, the daughter of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Jammu and Kashmir police Abdul Rasheed, who lost his life in an encounter with terrorists last month, has  expressed gratitude to India cricketer Gautam Gambhir after he offered to fund her education. Thanking Gambhir for his gesture, the five-year old said she and her family are extremely happy with the cricketer's move before revealing that she wants to become a doctor. "Thank you Gautam Sir. Me and my family are very happy with your gesture. I want to study and become a doctor," Zohra told the reporters.

Replying to the Zohra, Gambhir compared her with his daughters.

"Zohra beta, don't thank me, you are like my daughters Aazeen & Anaiza. Heard you want to be a doctor. Just spread your wings and chase your dreams. WE ARE THERE," Gambhir tweeted.

Earlier on Tuesday, Gambhir had pledged to help Zohra with her education for lifetime. In an emotional message on Twitter, Gambhir had said he would help the young child realise her dreams.

"Zohra, I cant put you to sleep with a lullaby but I'll help you to wake up to live ur dreams. I will support your education for lifetime #daughterofIndia," Gambhir had tweeted.

"Zohra, please don't let those tears fall as I doubt even Mother Earth can take the weight of your pain. Salutes to your martyred dad ASI, Abdul Rashid," Gambhir added.

On August 28, Rashid was killed when militants fired at him at Mehandi Kadal in Anantnag District of Jammu and Kashmir. Images of Zohra weeping inconsolably at her father's wreath-laying ceremony in Srinagar had gone viral and moved many.

This is not the first time when the Delhi cricketer has come out in support of the armed forces and their children.

Earlier in April, Gambhir pledged to bear the educational expenses of children of the 25 Central Reserve Police Force ( CRPF) personnel, who were killed in a Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh's Sukma District.

In August, Gambhir started a community kitchen service in an attempt to feed the hungry and poor at free of cost. The initiative was launched through the Gautam Gambhir Foundation at New Delhi's West Patel Nagar area.
