Dhawan's 92 helped India beat Windies by 6 wickets

Team India's 'Gabbar', Shikhar Dhawan never shies away from grabbing the limelight and his match-winning performance for India in the 3rd T20I against West Indies saw him once again prove why he is a vital member of the team.

Dhawan's 92 along with Rishabh Pant's 58 saw India chase 182 with ease as the Men in Blue defeated West Indies by 6 wickets to complete the whitewash of the three-match series.

In the post-match presentation ceremony, Dhawan lauded Pant and said he got inspired by his big hitting, which eventually prompted him to take the aerial route himself during his innings.

"It was a good match. We lost two early wickets, and I knew I had to stay at the crease. Rishabh played well, a tremendous partnership between us. He batted really well. I knew he was going after the bowlers so I took a backseat and then I joined the party after he hit a few huge sixes. It doesn't matter to me what people say, and I just back myself and back my game," said Dhawan after India thrashed Windies.

Dhawan was in dire need of a knock which could put him back on track along with opener Rohit Sharma and captain Virat Kohli as the duo have been ruthless in white-ball cricket so far.

In the post match press conference, Dhawan's opening partner Rohit Sharma lauded him for his match winning performance and said that it was important for him to return to form ahead of India's tour of Australia.

"It was important from the team's perspective and for the players to get some runs ahead of the important Australia tour. Shikhar especially was batting well in the ODI series but he was not able to get big scores. I am glad that he could play a match-winning knock and get some form under his belt before the crucial tour," Rohit said.

Dhawan has been selected for the T20Is against Australia, but has been left out of the Test squad after a drab and uninspiring performance in the England tour.
