Highlights, Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians: MI win by 40 runs

A comfortable victory in the end for Mumbai. A clinical bowling performance. They used the conditions on offer well and took full advantage of it. You could say, possibly, they won the game when the spin of the coin feel Rohit Sharma's way. They firstly put up fine score on the board, close to 170, courtesy a good start from Rohit and de Kock, and then a big finish from the Pandya brothers. And then, got the job done with the ball with Rahul Chahar leading the line with his 3-wicket haul. The rest played their part, and everyone barring Jayant Yadav contributed in the wickets column. A good all-round performance.

23.28 IST: Hardik Pandya to Amit Mishra, A single to finish the game! A short ball on middle, it is flat-batted down to long on for a single. ALL SMILES IN THE MUMBAI CAMP AS THEY WON BY 40 RUNS!

23.24 IST: Hardik Pandya to Kagiso Rabada, SIX! Rabada nails this one! Short and on middle, Rabada goes for the pull, this time he connects and it is in the crowd in the mid-wicket stands. However, even 4 more of these won't make a difference.

* Hardik Pandya to bowl the last over of the game.

23.18 IST:  Lasith Malinga to Amit Mishra, 4 Leg byes. Full and down the leg side, the batsman looks to flick but the ball brushes the pads and races to the fine leg fence.

23.14 IST: Jasprit Bumrah to Axar Patel, OUT KABOOM! The middle stump has gone for a walk. Length and on middle, Axar makes room and then looks to cut. He misses and the furniture behind is disturbed.

23.13 IST: Jasprit Bumrah to Axar Patel, OUT! RUN OUT! Keemo Paul bags a diamond duck! No. 7 down for the hosts. A back of a length delivery.

Keemo Paul is the new man in.

23.12 IST: Lasith Malinga to Chris Morris, OUT! Malinga gets his first! The slower one does the trick. It is very full and hence, Morris does not get under it. He hits it flat towards long on, Hardik Pandya there takes a neat catch.

23.06 IST: Lasith Malinga to Axar Patel, SIX! Axar has picked the bones out of this one! It is the slower one but it is right in the slot. Patel lofts it over the long on fence. They need to keep going.

* The strategic break has been signalled!

23.00 IST: Jasprit Bumrah to Chris Morris, SIX! Straight as an arrow! Slightly fuller and on middle, Morris just lifts it with ease over the bowler's head and it goes all the way. Need a few more.

22.59 IST: Lasith Malinga to Axar Patel, FOUR! Patel goes aerial. A fuller length delivery on off, Patel lifts it above the cover region for a boundary.

* Lasith Malinga is back!

22.53 IST: Jasprit Bumrah to Rishabh Pant, OUT! CASTLED! There goes Delhi's final hope, if there was one. Brilliant delivery from Bumrah. He comes from around the wicket and angles it into the off pole. Pant looks to play it with a straight bat nor does he cover the angle and also leaves a gap between bat and pad. The ball sneaks through and uproots the off pole. Bumrah is pumped and no heroics from Pant this time around.

Jasprit Bumrah is back!

22.47 IST: Krunal Pandya to Rishabh Pant, A tossed up delivery, Krunal Pandya applies too much air on this. Pant leaves his crease and makes a full toss. A pull to fine leg. Dot ball.

Krunal Pandya is back!

22.43 IST: Jayant Yadav to Rishabh Pant, A Short delivery on off, Pant looks to cut but wicket showing its nature again. The ball was low resulting in a dot ball.

Jayant Yadav is back!

22.38 IST: Rahul Chahar to Shreyas Iyer, OUT! Bowled 'em! Rahul Chahar is having a ball out there. Amazing. Picks up his third of the night. That's a perfect leg break, gets rid of the Delhi skipper Iyer. He lands it on middle, quite slow through the air. Nice shape in first before it turns away. Iyer hangs his bat out to defend but it goes past the outside edge and disturbs the stumps behind. Delhi in trouble now, this isn't looking good for them.

22.36 IST: Krunal Pandya to Colin Munro, OUT! TIMBER! Another one bites the dust! It is Munro this time who is walking back. Krunal strikes in his first over itself. Delhi slip further. This is extremely full, almost in the blockhole. Munro fails to jam it out but misses. The off stump is disturbed. Delhi need 108 runs in 62 balls.

Shreyas Iyer walks in at no.4.

22.32 IST: Rahul Chahar to Prithvi Shaw, OUT! Shaw holes out! This was coming wasn't it? He just could not get going and tried to break the shackles. He uses his feet but does not get to the pitch of the ball. He still continues with the shot nut ends it straight to long on where Pandya takes an easy catch. Chahar gets his second and Delhi in trouble here. DC 59/2 in 8.3 Overs

22.31 IST: Rahul Chahar to Prithvi Shaw, A fumble and two runs! Shaw dances down the track and looks to flick against the turn. He only manages a leading edge towards cover. The fielder in the deep slips and the batsmen take two.

22.27 IST: Jayant Yadav to Prithvi Shaw, A great shot for a single. A nice tossed up delivery on off, Shaw beautifully drives it to long off for a run.

22.26 IST: Rahul Chahar to Prithvi Shaw, Slower through the air on off, Shaw looks to go over covers but he is a touch early in the shot. It goes off the inner half towards long on for a single.

22.23 IST: Rahul Chahar to Shikhar Dhawan, OUT! Chahar strikes! A wicket immediately after the break. A tad unfortunate but Mumbai won't care. Dhawan tries to continue his attacking approach as he looks to reverse sweep. He first gets hit on the pads. The bowler in the meantime starts appealing. The umpire shakes his head as the ball seems to be pitching outside leg.

22.19 IST: Jayant Yadav to Shikhar Dhawan, FOUR! Easy pickings for Dhawan. This is bowled full and on the pads. Dhawan whips it over the mid-wicket fielder. No one in the deep so a boundary.

22.15 IST: Jasprit Bumrah to Prithvi Shaw, OOHHHH! That came in sharply and kept low. A back of a length delivery outside off, Shaw was looking to play it towards the third man region but fails to connect. The wicket is showing its slowness in nature as the ball reaches with a bounce to the keeper.

22.13 IST: Jayant Yadav to Shikhar Dhawan, SIX! Can't as Dhawan has hit that into the stands. Yadav tosses this one up on middle, Dhawan gets to the pitch of the ball and sends it sailing into the long on stands. 10 from the over and Delhi too are off to a flier.

22.09 IST: Lasith Malinga to Shikhar Dhawan, FOUR! Dhawan making full use of the fielding restrictions. A length delivery on off, Shikhar Dhawan comes down the track and lifts it above covers for a one-bounce boundary.

22.07 IST: Lasith Malinga to Shikhar Dhawan, FOUR! Class by Dhawan. Malinga rolling his fingers on this one. Width offered by him. Dhawan makes full use of it, he firmly plants his front leg and drives this towards the covers region for boundary.

22.04 IST Rahul Chahar to Shikhar Dhawan, FOUR! Another sweep by Dhawan. Chahar is not learning, pitching this around leg, Dhawan gets on one knee and with ease sweeps it down to mid-wicket for another boundary.

22.01 IST: Rahul Chahar to Shikhar Dhawan, FOUR! On leg and punished. A flighted delivery on leg, Dhawan gets his one knee down and strokes it away to mid-wicket for a boundary.

21.58 IST: Hardik Pandya to Prithvi Shaw, FOUR! Poor bowling this! They placed the covers on the boundary and Hardik ends up bowling on the pads. Shaw works it to the fine leg fence. Consecutive boundaries.

21.56  IST: Hardik Pandya to Prithvi Shaw, FOUR! Prithvi is underway in style! Short and wide outside off, Shaw cuts it through point and the ball races away to the fence. Poor ball and it was meant to be put away.

Once again it's Hardik Pandya to the rescue for Mumbai. He's been in fine touch this season and he's delivered once again. After opting to bat on this slow deck turning slower as the game progressed, Rohit and de Kock got Mumbai off to a brisk start, scoring 57 in the Powerplay itself. It looked like Delhi would be in some trouble, but a few wickets in relative quick succession, with the two openers departing in the space of 3 overs, saw the hosts make their way back into the game. They were climbing on top too, but Hardik, along with his brother, took the attack to the opposition. As many as 64 runs came in the final 5 overs and Mumbai have posted a superb score on the board.

21.42 IST: Kagiso Rabada to Krunal Pandya, LEG BYE TO END! Still a 18-run over. MUMBAI FINISH WITH 168 ON THE BOARD! A good delivery to end. Rabada follows Krunal with a short one on the body. Krunal looks to pull but gets hit on the body. The ball rolls towards short fine leg for a single.

21.37 IST: Kagiso Rabada to Hardik Pandya, OUT! In the air... taken! Rabada has the last laugh but a brilliant innings from Pandya. He has provided the much-needed impetus.

21.35 IST: Kagiso Rabada to Hardik Pandya, SIX!

21.33 IST: Chris Morris to Hardik Pandya, FOUR! Finishes the over in fine fashion. 15 from it. Mumbai really accelerating here in the final few overs. High full toss and Hardik shuffles across quickly. He hits this fine down the leg side and ends the over with a boundary. Morris had bowled a good over, but these last two balls have ruined that.

21.32 IST: Chris Morris to Hardik Pandya, SIX! He's in unbelievable form, isn't he? Superb hit from Hardik Pandya. It's a low full on middle and leg as Morris misses the attempted yorker, Hardik flicks it with his strong wrists and dumps it into the backward square leg stands.

21.30 IST: Chris Morris to Hardik Pandya, Pandya just about keeps it out! That is a corner of a yorker from around the wicket on middle, Pandya somehow manages to get bat on ball as he hits it to short fine leg. Does not run.

21.27 IST: Keemo Paul to Hardik Pandya, SIX! That is out of here! Massive! This is guy can probably hit anything over the ropes at the moment. It is the slower one, it is full and on off, he picks it, waits for it and tonks it over the long off fence.

21.25 IST: Keemo Paul to Hardik Pandya, FOUR! Stand and deliver! Full and on middle, Pandya stands tall and whips it to the mid-wicket fence. Second boundary in the over.

21.21 IST: Keemo Paul to Krunal Pandya, FOUR! Cheeky! Brilliantly played! This was on middle and he has managed to get to the third man fence. Once again a seam-up ball going for a boundary. It is on middle, Krunal stays leg side of the delivery and just opens the face. It beats the fielder at short third man and into the fence. Boundary early in the over.

21.18 IST: Chris Morris to Krunal Pandya, FOUR! That has been brilliantly squeezed out! This is very full and outside off, Krunal just opens the face at the very end and hits it past the diving point fielder for a boundary. Morris bowled the seam-up delivery on the last ball. Maybe that is not the way to go on this surface. MI 118/4 in 17 Overs

* Chris Morris is back on attack!

21.17 IST: Kagiso Rabada to Krunal Pandya, FOUR! Poor line and it has been put away! Down the leg side, easy pickings for Krunal. He flicks it to fine leg and the ball races away.

Strategic break.

21.12 IST: Kagiso Rabada to Suryakumar Yadav, OUT! Caught behind! A good catch by Pant there. Yadav looks to be innovative but those are brilliant when the come off and ugly when they don't. This time it does not come off. He tries to play the paddle scoop but it goes off the toe-end to the right of Pant who takes it with a dive. MI 104/4 in 15.1 Overs

21.06 IST: Kagiso Rabada to Suryakumar Yadav, FOUR! Excellent shot! Slightly short and it is the slower one. Yadav waits for it, arches and then upper cuts it over the keeper's head.

Kagiso Rabada is back now!

21.04 IST: Keemo Paul to Krunal Pandya, Play and a miss! On a good length and outside off, Krunal looks to cut but misses it.

20.59 IST: Axar Patel to Krunal Pandya, Full on middle, Krunal drives it towards mid on for a run. Just 4 runs have come from the over. Mumbai need big overs to reach 160 mark.

20.53 IST: Amit Mishra to Suryakumar Yadav, FOUR! A very clever shot! Yadav is quickly down on one knee and instead of a paddle sweep, he plays a paddle scoop, over the keeper's head and into fence.

Krunal Pandya is the new batsman in.

20.51 IST: Axar Patel to Suryakumar Yadav, OUT! A big mix-up and de Kock is out of here! This is probably the last thing Mumbai would have wanted, de Kock was really playing well out there but he has to walk back. This is fired outside off, Yadav cuts it to the left or Rabada. De Kock feels there is a run and sets off. Rabada though gets to the ball quickly.

20.47 IST: Axar Patel to Suryakumar Yadav, Shorter in length and fired on the stumps, this is punched down to long on for a single.

Strategic break.  Mumbai have got to a fine start but they have lost Rohit Sharma and Ben Cutting. It was a poor decision by the skipper to send Ben Cutting at 3. On the other hand, Delhi have bowled well and will look to restrict them. The pitch has kept low and slow.

20.44 IST: Amit Mishra to Quinton de Kock, FOUR! Pace on the ball and it has been put away! This is fired in, full and on off. De Kock whips it in the gap in the mid-wicket region and bags a boundary. So despite the boundary, only 7 runs from the over.

20.42 IST: Amit Mishra to Quinton de Kock, Flighted delivery on middle and leg, de Kock looks to sweep but gets hit low on the pads. Mishra appeals for lbw but the umpire shakes his head. Probably it was pitching outside leg.

Suryakumar Yadav is the new batsman in.

20.39 IST: Axar Patel to Ben Cutting, OUT! Cutting is a goner! That is as plumb as it gets. This is flatter and on middle, Cutting looks to sweep but misses. It hits him on the pads. An appeal and the umpire raises the finger. Two quick wickets for Delhi and they are right back in the contest. Cutting's comeback into the team is not a good one.

20.35 IST: Amit Mishra to Quinton de Kock, Tossed up on off, de Kock makes room and guides it towards third man for a single. A productive over from Delhi. 2 runs and a wicket have come from the over.

Ben Cutting is the new batsman in.

20.32 IST: Amit Mishra to Rohit Sharma, OUT! TIMBER! Amit Mishra strikes straightaway! A poor shot by Rohit to be honest. Sharma bowls this flatter, lands it on middle and gets it to turn away little. Sharma is rooted to his crease, he first tries to play it on the leg side but then tries to adjust to the turn by playing it with a straight bat. It is too late by then as the ball beats the outside edge and hits the stumps. MI 57/1 in 6.1 Overs

20.28 IST: Keemo Paul to Rohit Sharma, SIX! It is also a NO BALL! Poor bowling by Paul. He bowls a high, very high full toss. Rohit smashes it over square leg for a biggie. The next ball is a Free Hit.

20.26 IST: Keemo Paul to Quinton de Kock, SIX! Into the stands! Once again a length which de Kock just loves. Short and on the body. He picks it up and sends it sailing into the square leg stands.

20.24 IST: Ishant Sharma to Rohit Sharma, FOUR! Not sure Rohit intended it to go there. Actually, replays show he did intend to hit it there. Length and outside off, Sharma slaps it past mid off and the ball races away to the fence. Mumbai off to a very good start.

20.20 IST: Rohit Sharma completes his 8000 runs in T20 cricket.

20.19 IST: Chris Morris to Quinton de Kock, SIX! He has nailed this cross-batted shot! This was once again on the shorter side but on the body. De Kock feeds on such deliveries, he pulls it with aplomb over the square leg fence. First of the game and expensive first by Morris, 16 from it. MI 32/0 in 4 Overs

20.18 IST: Chris Morris to Quinton de Kock, FOUR! Full toss and put away! Second boundary in the over. On off, de Kock strokes it past mid off and it races away.

20.15 IST: Chris Morris to Rohit Sharma, EDGY FOUR! Full marks to the bowler but runs to the batsman. Length and on off, Rohit looks for the hoick across the line but due to the low bounce, he gets an inside edge which goes close past the leg stump and to the fine leg fence.

20.10 IST: Ishant Sharma to Rohit Sharma, Full on leg, Sharma flicks it towards fine leg where the fielder tries to stop but he falls down and gets up and throws it. The batsmen take a run. MI 13/0 in 2.1 Overs

20.07 IST: Kagiso Rabada to Rohit Sharma, FOUR! Crisp and in the gap! Rabada is guilty of bowling it a little too full, Rohit creams it through covers and the ball races to the fence. First boundary of the game.

Kagiso Rabada to bowl from the other end.

20.03 IST: Ishant Sharma to Quinton de Kock, On a good length on middle, de Kock looks to defend but gets hit on the thigh pad. Ishant appeals for lbw but the umpire shakes his head. The ball goes towards the off side. The batsmen take a run. The umpire gives it as a leg bye.

20.00 IST: Ishant Sharma to Rohit Sharma, The ball misbehaves straightaway! That stays low! Behind a driving length and outside off, Rohit looks to drive but the ball stays low, goes underneath his bat and on the bounce to Pant. Judging by the first ball, Mumbai may just have won a good toss.

19.58 IST: Sourav Ganguly rings the bell and we are all set for the action to begin. The Delhi players are out in the middle. Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock will open the batting for Mumbai.

19.39 IST: Mumbai skipper, Rohit Sharma, says they are batting first. He feels the wicket is a touch slow and runs on the board is the way to go on such a surface. States the last time they failed in chasing here. Mentions Delhi is a smart team and they play well here and Mumbai have to be clever as well. Informs they have a couple of changes, one forced and the other due to the wicket, Ishan Kishan is sick and he is replaced by Ben Cutting and Behnredorff misses out and Jayant Yadav comes in. Ends by saying, they want to continue the winning momentum.
