IPL Auction 2018: Uncapped off-spinner Krishnappa Gowtham sparks intense bidding war

Gowtham's bowling figures is one of the reasons why he was the most-sought after as he was sold to Rajasthan Royals for a whopping price of 6.20 crore.

Day two of the Indian Premier League (IPL)  2018  players auction kickstarted with the bidding for uncapped spinners and the franchises went along with their business till Krishnappa Gowtham's name came up. This spinner has played for Mumbai Indians but his performances in recent times has grabbed plenty of attention. His bowling figures is one of the reasons why he was the most-sought-after as he was sold to Rajasthan Royals for whopping 6.20 crore. 

The 29-year old has played for Mumbai Indians and it was particularly for his bidding where teams such as Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals were in a fierce battle for the right-arm off-break but it was the latter team that won the bidding for the player. His performances in the Ranji Trophy 2017 season was spectacular which made him a cricketer in the 'buy' list of the teams.

Rajasthan Royals have now added another spinner to their cavalry as the Steve Smith led side will aim to bring the trophy back home this time. Gowtham collected 79 wickets in 22 first-class matches he has played. 

Delhi Daredevils won the bidding for Shahbaz Nadeem for a massive 3.20 crore. After using their RTM cards, they have brought back the left-arm orthodox spinner in their attacking unit. 

Royal Challengers Bangalore were able to win the bidding for Murugan Ashwin who has played for Rising Pune Superstars and Delhi Daredevils.
