Former India captain Sourav Ganguly, who was known as the 'Lord of the off-side' during his playing days, is now serving as an advisor for the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals (DC). Even though the legend announced his retirement from the game more than a decade ago, in a video clip posted by the Delhi based team shows that 'Dada' has still got it! In the video, the former one-day opener is seen helping players during a practice session with the bat in hand.
Receiving throwdowns, Sourav is still able to cut the ball multiple times through the cover-point region. During the end, he also unleashed one of his more famous drives through the off-side reminding us all of the prowess of the Prince of Kolkata.
A veteran of 113 Tests for India, Ganguly scored 7,212 runs in the longest format alongside 11,363 runs in ODIs, with an average above 41 in both. He last played for the country in a Test against Australia in Nagpur, 2008.
As far as his rechristened franchise DC is concerned, they started the IPL 2019 with a bang by beating Mumbai Indians (MI) in their own den in their opening match at the Wankhede. However, MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) spun a web around the hosts when they clashed on March 26 leaving DC with a win and a loss from their two games so far.
DC will next play Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) when they host the latter on March 30 at the Ferozshah Kotla in Delhi.
