Three-time Indian Premier League champions Mumbai Indians swooped in to revive veteran Yuvraj Singh's cricketing career by availing the 37-year old's services in the second round of the 2019 IPL player auction at a base price of Rs. 1 Crore in Jaipur.
Yuvraj had a bleak season when he was brought back into Kings XI Punjab in the 11th edition. The southpaw played 8 matches, in which he managed to conjure up a paltry 65 runs. However, Yuvraj hopes to reignite his career with Mumbai Indians.
In an interview with his new franchise, Yuvraj spoke was all praise for 'terrific captain' Rohit Sharma and reminisces his fond memories at Wankhede.
“Yes, I think Rohit is a terrific captain and he is someone who keeps his nerves pretty calm. You know, I have seen Rohit grow in front of me as a player, a cricketer and as a human. I think he is one of the best examples of a human being I have seen throughout a bunch of cricketers. He is definitely one of the greats in ODIs and a very humble human being,” Yuvraj told Mumbai Indians.
“We share a great camaraderie and hopefully it works on the field and you know, just really looking forward to playing under him,”
Yuvraj was a part of India's 2011 World Cup winning squad and the southpaw is ready to deliver at Wankhede once again.
"It is a very emotional and strong place for any Indian cricketer so I think I’m very excited and ecstatic to play in front of the Mumbai home crowd. As I said, hopefully, it should go well for us," Yuvraj said.
Before the 2019 IPL commences in March, Yuvraj will hope to hit top form by playing in Ranji and Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 trophy.
