After spending seven eventful years with Kolkata Knight Riders, Gautam Gambhir has mutually parted ways with Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. The 36-year old Gambhir has led KKR to two title triumphs in 2012 and 2014 edition of the cash-rich T20 tournament. Under his leadership, KKR performed admirably well as he led the team from the front both on and off the field. Gambhir's performances with the bat also played a crucial role in KKR's success in the T20 extravaganza. The stylish left-hander was KKR's highest run-getter in the last two seasons of IPL.

But, as all good things come to an end, the relationship between Gambhir and KKR also reached its expiry date with the former deciding to part ways on a positive note. Expressing his thoughts about Gambhir's departure from the popular franchise, Bollywood superstar and co-owner of Knight Riders, Shah Rukh Khan said he will miss Gautam Gambhir in the upcoming edition of the league.

Answering the queries of his fans during a Q n A session on Twitter, the 52-year old actor was asked by a fan to give a one-liner for the former KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir. The fan wrote, "Sir! One line for #GautamGambhir"

Responding to the request, SRK gave an honest reply and said: "Will Miss Him".

As per the reports, the southpaw batsman had himself requested the KKR team management to not to retain him during the first-ever IPL Player Retention event. Thus, he was not bought by the Kolkata-based franchise in the player auction event as well.

Meanwhile, Gambhir has returned to his home team Delhi Daredevils after playing for them for three years between 2008 and 2010. He also captained the side in 2010 in absence of former India opener Virender Sehwag. He was bought for a price of Rs. 2.8 crore on the first day of the IPL Auction. Gambhir is also likely to lead the Daredevils in the 2018 edition of IPL.
