Virender Sehwag has always had a knack for pulling cricketer's legs from time to time and this time, the antic master pulled a classic 'prank' on April fool's day (April 1). Known for his wit and shenanigans, the former Team India opener notched it up a bit this time.
On April fool's day, the official website of the Kings XI Punjab had taken to Twitter to announce the return of Sehwag to open for the first match of the season. The decision was taken by the former swashbuckler himself after he was seen in the nets to help prepare the bowlers. The website had announced that the 39-year old would replace Australian explosive batsman Aaron Finch for the season opener.
KXIP had tweeted this,"You're in for a real treat. @virendersehwag will take the field in Vivo @IPL once again, replacing @AaronFinch5 for the season opener. It's deja vu all over again."
Sehwag had the entire cricketing nation believe that the swashbuckler would make a comeback from retirement and play the opener for Punjab as they face Delhi Daredevils on April 8.
However, a day later, the KXIP uploaded a video where Sehwag cleared the air by stating that his return to the IPL was a prank and Finch suffering an injury was a hoax.
Sehwag had this to say a day later.
Sehwag, who acts as the Kings XI Punjab mentor, is curious to see the Lion's den claim the silverware this season as they have never won the IPL till yet in the 10 seasons so far.
