A happy Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli said that a win against rivals Mumbai Indians was imperative as RCB desperately wanted to change the outcomes so far and collect two crucial points in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. Bangalore had put in an excellent yet decisive bowling performance to bundle out Mumbai Indians.The Kohli-led RCB are now at the fifth spot in the IPL table with six points from their eight matches.
"We needed that win. Very important win at such an important stage of the tournament. In the last couple of games, we were picking up. Tonight was an occasion we needed that two points. This is the push we needed," Kohli said after the match in the post press conference.
The skipper said the team needs an impactful performance to get the points in order to qualify for the next stage and said that the win will help them in boosting their confidence for the next encounter against rivals, Chennai Super Kings on May 5.
"We needed impact performances to get those two points. We had good intent, results are around the corner. The result went our way. We should take this confidence forward," Kohli said.
Chasing a manageable target of 168 runs, Mumbai lost wickets at regular intervals and could only post 153/7 in their 20 overs.
Except for Hardik Pandya, who scored a patient 50 off 42 deliveries, the rest of the Mumbai batsmen were unable to stand up to the RCB bowlers.

The win was special for Kohli as it was a small gift for his wife Anushka Sharma who was present at the M Chinnaswamy on her 30th birthday.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore will next be in action on May 5, when they travel to Pune to face arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings at the MCA Stadium. RCB lost the previous encounter against CSK as MS Dhoni led the way for the yellow camp.
