Kolkata Knight Riders crushed Rajasthan Royals last night (Wednesday) in Eliminator to take one step closer to the Indian Premier League (IPL) final. Happy with his team's performance, KKR owner and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan expressed his excitement on his official Twitter handle after his team's brilliant performance against Royals at the Eden Gardens.
After the match, King Khan tweeted a video with the caption "Missed talking to the fabulous boys from KKR...was getting ready for the shoot. So in the middle of my shower sending all my love. Wow #KKRHaiTayyar so so proud and happy."
The 52-year old actor also appreciated his players by tweeting a photo message and motivated them with his kind words" Thx again @DineshKarthik & all u boys for the joy u r bringing to all of us. & especially happy to see @RealShubmanGill coming into his own. Kolkata Knight Riders is riding high on success after winning the first eliminator against Rajasthan Royals by 25 runs. The most glamorous side in IPL came as a surprise package this year as they are going to play a virtual semifinal against Sunrisers Hyderabad to seal their berth for third IPL final.
In the ongoing edition of IPL, KKR captain Dinesh Karthik has led his team from the front and has consistently churned out match-winning performances. In the eliminator, the hosts brilliantly stepped on the gas in the second-half, scoring 106 runs in the last 10 overs with all-rounder Andre Russell taking charge of the proceedings.
Earlier, the sixes were a rarity in the first half of Kolkata innings and it was only in the 14th over Shubman Gill hit the first shot over the ropes in his crucial fifth-wicket partnership with Karthik. Karthik and Gill added 55 runs in 38 balls as the Under-19 World Cup winning youngster Gill impressed with his stroke-making skills en route his 17-ball 28 (3x4, 1x6).
On a day KKR star spinner Sunil Narine was expensive and returned wicket-less, the likes of Piyush Chawla, Prasidh Krishna and Kuldeep Yadav stepped up to restrict Rajasthan 144 for four after batsmen put on board 169 for seven.
