Rajasthan Royals have brought in New Zealand leg-spinner Ish Sodhi as a replacement for injured Afghanistan Zahir Khan in the Indian Premier League 2018.
The New Zealand spinner was picked from the Registered Available Player Pool (RAPP) list and this will be his first stint in the cash-rich Indian Premier League. Sodhi went unsold at the 2018 IPL auctions earlier this year and now has a chance to shine in the shortest format of the game, which he quite well dominates.
Sodhi has played 26 T20I in which he has collected 36 wickets and a best figure of 18/3. His economy in T20 cricket is 7.66 and can come quite handy with the bat as well.
Sodhi will be on his way to India soon and will don the blue jersey for the remainder of the season.
The Royals lost their first match to Sunrisers Hyderabad by nine-wickets as the Ajinkya Rahane led Rajasthan team were outclassed in all departments, despite playing the costliest all-rounder and bowler brought in the auctions, Ben Stokes and Jaydev Unadkat.
Rajasthan will however aim to comeback strong as they play their first match in the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur after two years.
