As Chennai Super Kings (CSK) gear up for a comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after a leap of two years, India's former captain and wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni turned emotional during a press conference on Thursday.
The 36-year-old cricketer, who is known for his calm and fearless approach, appeared in tears while speaking at a press conference. Watching him in tears, CSK teammate Suresh Raina ran up to the stage and offered him some water to drink.
Dhoni led CSK in eight editions of the IPL, following which the franchise was banned for two years due to spot-fixing scandal. The wicketkeeper-batsman represented Rising Pune Supergiants in last two editions of the IPL.
Under the captaincy of Dhoni, CSK won the title twice in 2010 and 2011, and concluded as runners-up in four editions of the cash-rich league.
Having played 159 IPL matches so far, Dhoni has made 2987 runs for CSK in 129 games.
CSK will take on three-time title winners Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2018 opening match at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on April 7.
