Former Bangladesh captain and star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been released by two-time Indian Premier League champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of the IPL 2018 player retentions, which is set to take place in Mumbai on Thursday. Shakib, who has been playing for the Shah Rukh Khan-co-owned franchise for the last seven years, has reportedly been released and will be available for the IPL 2018 auction to be held on January 27 and 28.
"Bangladesh's star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who has been featuring in the IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders for the past seven years but played only one match last season, has been released for this edition and he will also be available in the players' auction scheduled to take place on January 28 and 29," said a report in the dailystar.net.
Interestingly, Shakib played just one match in the 10th edition of the league.
Meanwhile, the report also said that young fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman, who plays for 2016 IPL champions Sunrisers Hyderabad, has been granted No Objection Certificate (NOC) by the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
Mustafizur was denied NOC by the BCB for the Pakistan Super League in February as he was recovering from an injury.
The other six Bangladesh players who will be available in the auction are Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah Riyad, Mehedi Hasa Miraz, Liton Das, Sabbir Rahman and Abul Hasan.
