Australia T20 specialist Chris Lynn is back on the road to recovery after injuring his shoulder during a Tri-Nation series finals match against New Zealand. The hard-hitting right-hand batsman dislocated his shoulder after falling awkwardly but it was the physios who managed to place it back immediately within a few minutes. Lynn, who will play for Kolkata Knight Riders in the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League this year, is hopeful of playing KKR's opening match against the Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Lynn was ruled out of the on-going Pakistan Super League but has set the objective of honouring his contract with the Kolkata Knight Riders. The 27-year old has resumed training and has returned to light batting-duties in the nets.
"It's tracking really nicely," Lynn told cricket.com.au."It's a short turnaround with the timeframe that we've got but it's all going well.
Lynn stated that he would do all he could to play KKR's first fixture against the Challengers and is happy with his progress so far.
"The docs and the physios are happy so that's all I can do. Fingers crossed I can keep going in the right direction and try to make myself available for the first game of the IPL."
The T20 specialist has played 12 matches in the Indian Premier League where has played for the Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders and the latter franchise paid a hefty amount of Rs.9.6 crore to acquire his services once again.
Last season saw Lynn smash 295 runs at an astronomical strike-rate of 180.98 in the seven matches he played. KKR have banked on the Australian to perform, however, Lynn who is on the road to recovery from a disastrous injury, says that he will do whatever he can to play for the Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise.
"If not, it's not the end of the world but I'm doing everything I can to get back out there," said Lynn.
The KKR team suffered another blow when their star player Andre Russell pulled a hamstring during a PSL match. However, the KKR fans can breathe a huge sigh of relief after their CEO Venky Mysore provided an update on the two players saying '“We are expecting Lynn and Russell to play on April 8. They will join the camp.”
Kolkata Knight Riders will play their first match of the season under the captaincy of Dinesh Karthik against the Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 8.
