After completing a decade of festivity with intriguing T20 cricket, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to roll for another edition, starting in April 2018. The auctions for the fresh season, which will see the return of discarded teams Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, is scheduled to be held January 27 and 28.
In the auction, as many as 578 cricketers will go under the hammer. There are 360 Indians and 218 overseas players in the pool, though only 198 players can be bought by all eight franchises in the auction.
The franchisees will roll in with an allotted a purse of Rs 80 crores, which includes the money they used in retaining the players ahead of the auction.
Each team can buy maximum 25 players, out of which 8 can be overseas cricketers.
