IPL 2017: Virat Kohli becomes most followed IPL cricketer on Facebook, Instagram

Virat Kohli may have missed the first three games for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) due to a shoulder injury, but his popularity on social media remains unfazed.

Virat Kohli may have missed the first three games for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) due to a shoulder injury, but his popularity on social media remains unfazed. 

An official press release from Facebook and Instagram has ranked Kohli as the most followed/liked cricketer to take part in the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). 

Among the list of top 10 players on Facebook, Kohli is followed by MS Dhoni (Pune),Yuvraj Singh (Hyderabad), Rohit Sharma (Mumbai), Shakib Al Hasan (Kolkata), Chris Gayle (Bangalore), Shikhar Dhawan (Hyderabad), Gautam Gambhir (Kolkata), Harbhajan Singh (Mumbai) and Glenn Maxwell (Punjab). 

On the list of top 10 IPL players on Instagram, the Indian skipper is followed by MS Dhoni (Pune), AB de Villiers (Bangalore), Yuvraj Singh (Hyderabad), Rohit Sharma (Mumbai), Suresh Raina (Gujarat), Chris Gayle (Bangalore), Harbhajan Singh (Mumbai), Ravindra Jadeja (Gujarat) and Ajinkya Rahane (Pune). 

Kohli, who underwent rehabilitation after sustaining an injury to his right shoulder while fielding during the third Test against Australia, was on Thursday declared fit to lead his team in the next Indian Premier League clash against Mumbai Indians on Friday.

In the 2016 edition of the IPL, Kohli had set the charts on fire with a record 973 runs in 16 matches with four centuries and seven fifties.
