Mohali: Kings XI Punjab, who are languishing at the bottom of the table, suffered a major setback today after Australian batsman Shaun Marsh was forced out of the Indian Premier League today due to a back injury.
Marsh picked up the injury during the match against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 19. He scored 56 runs in 41 balls in that match but could not guide his team to victory and has reportedly carried a back niggle ever since.
After Steve Smith and Mitchell Marsh, both from Rising Pune Supergiants, Shaun is the third Aussie player to be ruled out of the league due to injury.
Having scored 159 runs in six matches with an average of 31.80, Shaun was playing an important role in Punjab’s batting line-up.
Earlier, Punjab had sacked David Miller as captain and replaced him with Murali Vijay, following which they won their last match against table-toppers Gujarat Lions and were on their way to recovery.
