Bengaluru: Sunrisers Hyderabad has set a challenging target of 209 against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final clash of the Indian Premier League season 9 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium today.

In the quest to win the maiden IPL title, David Warner won the toss for Sunrisers Hyderabad and elected to bat first against RCB.

David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan added 63 runs for the first wicket. Dhawan (28 off 25 balls) was caught by Yuzwendra Chahal on Chris Jordan’s delivery.

David Warner’s 69-run inning from just 38 deliveries included eight fours and three sixes.

Yuvraj Singh also played a crucial inning of 38 runs from just 23 balls that included four boundaries and two sixes, pushing the team’s score past 140 in the 15th over.

After Yuvraj’s dismissal, wickets fell at regular intervals which reduced the team’s run rate.

However, Australian all-rounder Ben Cutting coming at No. 6 made a fiery 39 runs from just 15 balls that included three fours and four sky-rise sixes thereby pushing Sunrisers’ score past 200.

For Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chris Jordan took three wickets but gave 45 runs in his 4-over slot. Sreenath Aravind took two wickets while Yuzvendra Chahal grabbed one wicket.

Seeing the sublime form of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, the target of 209 doesn’t seem so massive. But with bowlers like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Barinder Sran and Naman Ojha, SRH can turn the game in their favour.
