The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today announced a 12-man team for the 1st ODI against West Indies to be played on October 21 in Guwahati, Assam. While Kohli returns as captain to lead the team after skipping the Asia Cup, the other notable addition is that of flamboyant Delhi batsman Rishabh Pant who recently made his debut against England and went on to score a scintillating maiden century at The Oval.
If India choose to go with Pant it will mark the debut for the wicket-keeper batsman who has been in an amazing form since the IPL 2018. While this is certainly good news for Pant, KL Rahul would be disappointed at not being chosen for the 1st ODI.
India 12: Virat Kohli (c), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Ambati Rayudu, Rishabh Pant, MS Dhoni (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Umesh Yadav, Md. Shami, Khaleel Ahmed
The teams are slated to play five ODIs and 3 T20s following the 2-0 drubbing in the Test series that concluded earlier this month.
