Ravindra Jadeja celebrates after scoring a ton in Rajkot

After scoring his maiden Test century on the second day of the first Tests against West Indies at his home ground in Rajkot, Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja said he always looks to capitalise on the chances.

Adding that he is completely focused on developing his game, the 29-year-old further stated that instead of proving things to others he prefers to satisfy his own self by his performance.

"Getting a chance to play after being out of playing eleven for a long time is always pressurising. But I always think about developing my game. You get a chance.....you need to perform. There is hardly any time in between to ponder about the same," Jadeja said in the post-match press conference.

"Whenever I get a chance, I look to increase the level of my game. I don't believe in proving anything to anyone instead I try to satisfy myself with the performance," he added.

Reflecting on his maiden Test hundred, Jadeja said that the century is "special" adding that he was not in a hurry to get to the 100-run mark.

"This was my first test hundred so it was special. I had missed many chances before to score a ton but luckily, I did it today. It was my special day today. I kept talking to myself. I did not want to play a wrong short. I was just not in hurry at all," he said.

Jadeja dedicated his centurion knock to his mother, who, he said, always wanted him to play for India.

After declaring their first innings at 649/9, India gave early jolts to West Indies as the visiting side trail by 555 runs at the loss of six wickets by the end of Day Two of the opening Test.
