Highlights, 2nd ODI: West Indies draw India in nail-biting clash

Despite's Kohli unbeaten 157, West Indies somehow managed to scrape the bottom of the barrel to salvage a draw against India in a thriller in Vizag.

Written by: India TV Sports Desk New Delhi Published : Oct 24, 2018 12:09 IST, Updated : Oct 24, 2018 22:52 IST

India vs West Indies, 2nd ODI in Visakhapatnam: A humdinger of a game. Chasing 322 on a tricky surface, the odds would have definitely been stacked in the hosts' favour, but Windies have done a tremendous job with the bat. It's a testament to their batting order that they've crossed 300 on consecutive occasion. The visitors lost a few early wickets but that mammoth 143-run stand between Hope and Hetmyer kept things every much in the balance, if not in Windies' favour throughout the game. The latter missed out on a ton, while the former eventually went on to remain unbeaten on 123. Despite Virat Kohli's heroic 37th ton and him being the fastest to reach the 10K milestone, West Indies turned the game around. Take a look at the match highlights here. (SCORECARD) | (BALL-BY-BALL COMMENTARY) | (Click Here to Get Live Coverage in Hindi)

HIGHLIGHTS, IND VS WI, 2ND ODI FROM VIZAG:

* The crowd in the stadium has gone silent as they still haven't been able to comprehend what's happened here. Mixed emotions in the middle of the park, a few smiles, some heads dropping down. No team's lost, but only cricket's the winner tonight.

21.48 IST: You never would have expected such a thing to happen. Dear me. Excellent stuff from Shai Hope. Full and wide outside off, Hope carves this square through point. Rayudu out in the deep moves to his right, dives, gets a hand to it but can't stop it from crossing the rope. Absolute scenes in Vizag.

21.45 IST: FOUR and it's a TIE! West Indies (321/7) tie against India (321/6) in Vizag. Hosts lead 5-match series 1-0. Hope 123*, Hetmyer 94

21.42 IST: OUT! Ashley Nurse departs playing an audacious shot. He gets low as this ball comes in full outside off, takes it on the full and reverse scoops it towards third man. Rayudu runs in, settles himself under it and takes the catch. WI 315/7 in 49.4 overs

21.39 IST: FOUR!  LEG BYES! 9 needed off 4 to win. Umesh is unfortunate. He fires it in well on leg, Nurse looks to slog but misses. It goes off his pads and through the right of Dhoni to the third man boundary. WI 313/6 in 49.2 Overs

* Umesh Yadav comes into attack to bowl the final over of the match.

* Windies need 14 runs in the last over

21.35 IST: DOUBLE! Full and attacking the stumps, lofted over the bowler's head. The batsmen scamper through and come back for the second as long off cuts it out and throws it back in. Good running.  WI 307/6 in 48.5 Overs

* Shami back in attack to bowl the 49th Over

* Ashley Nurse is the next batsman in.

21.25 IST: RUN-OUT! A big mix up and Jason Holder is gone. A late twist in the tale left? Possibly. Hope pushes this full ball towards Rayudu at short cover and both batsmen take off. Then, Hope decides to abort but Holder is halfway down the track and left hanging. Rayudu gives the ball to Chahal who comfortably takes the bails off. The Windies skipper walks back with his head down. He is disappointed. WI 300/6 in 47.2 overs

21.22 IST: FOUR! Hope guides the bad ball for the boundary. WI 299/5 in 46.4 Overs

* A slight halt in play as the physio is out on the field. Hope has some pain in his left forearm. He's being looked at.

21.15 IST: DOUBLE! Excellent running between the wickets by Hope and Holder. WI 294/5 in 45.5 Overs

21.12 IST: DOUBLE! Second ODI hundred for Shai Hope. A fine knock, under pressure, but he knows the job isn't finished if he isn't there till the end. Full on middle and leg, swept through backward square leg for a couple. WI 288/5 in 45.1 Overs

21.10 IST: FOUR! Moves to 97 with this. Full and served outside off, Shai Hope with good balance lofts it over the covers for a boundary. WI 285/5 in 44.5

21.04 IST: SIX! He's got a hold of that! Terrific shot. He picks up the googly as it's landed full, Hope gets low and nails the slog sweep to perfection. Clears mid-wicket with ease. WI 276/5 in 43.4 Overs

20.57 IST: YORKER!  Excellent yorker from Shami. Fires it on the stumps, Hope can only dig it out.  WI 267/5 in 42.2 Overs

Yuzvendra Chahal is back on attack

* Only 5 runs from last 3 overs

20.50 IST: Kuldeep Yadav bowls a tight over of two runs in crucial situation. WI 259/5 in 40 Overs

* Skipper Jason Holder is the new man in.

20.40 IST: OUT! Kuldeep weaves his magic yet again. The bowling change works wonders. Lands the googly on middle and leg and it turns away, Rovman Powell doesn't pick it up a first. And when he does, it's too late and he has a needless poke at it. The ball takes the edge and goes to Rohit at first slip who makes no mistake. WI 253/5 in 37.3 overs

20.32 IST: SIX! That's gone high and over the boundary line. Good effort by Pant there. Tossed up by Chahal, Rovman clears his front leg and looks to go big downtown. It's high, Pant from long on comes under it moving to his left, catches it and crashes into the ad boards. He seems to be in pain. WI 245/4 in 35.1 Overs

20.30 IST: SIX! Right out of the screws! Short of a length on middle and leg, Hope stands tall and muscles it into the mid-wicket stands for half a dozen. WI 239/4 in 34.5 Overs

* Rovman Powell walks into the middle next.

20.14 IST: OUT! Chahal removes Hetmyer for 94. How unlucky could he get? The bowling change works wonders for the Indians. Hetmyer misses out on what would have been a well-deserved ton. Turning in, shorter in length, Hetmyer goes back to pull it out of Vizag. Instead, he gets a top edge which is taken by Virat Kohli at short cover. Shimron walks back dejected. Is this the opening India needed? Can they take advantage of it? WI 221/4 in 31.5 overs

20.09 IST: FOUR! Powerfull shot and Hetmyer is in his 90's. WI 218/3 in 30.5 overs

20.07 IST: FOUR! Welcomes Shami with a boundary. Short delivery, on middle and leg, Hetmyer clears his front leg and pulls it along the turf through square leg for a boundary.

20.02 IST: FOUR! Edged and a boundary. 200 up for Windies and they're in cruise control at the moment. A wicket can change it all but these two batsmen are in charge. WI 203/3 in 29.4 overs

19.58 IST: FIFTY! Shai Hope hits his 7th ODI half-century. He's been superb so far, kept his side well in the hunt along with Hetmyer. He rocks back and cracks it towards sweeper cover for a single. West Indies 189/3 in 28.4 overs vs India (321/6) in Vizag

19.53 IST: Appeal for stumping! Safe. He's back in. The googly on off and Hope doesn't pick it up. Gets beaten and loses his balance a bit. Dhoni takes the bails off seeing this and appeals. It's taken upstairs and replays show that Shai just about manages to get back inside the crease in time.

19.49 IST: NOT OUT! That is a huge inside edge! On a length and around off, this one comes back in a touch. Hope tries to defend but he seems to have gotten an inside edge onto his pads. The Indians appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Hope reviews immediately. Replays roll in and it shows, there is bat involved. Hope survives.

19.42 IST: SIX! Back to back maximums! Hetmyer has taken Chahal to the cleaners! Excellent use of the feet once again. He gets to the pitch of it and hits it over long on. 16 from the first three balls. WI 178/3 in 25.3 overs

19.41 IST: SIX! Another biggie! Back-to-back! This guy is taking the game away from India. It is slightly short, Hetmyer picks the length up early and pulls it over the mid-wicket fence for a maximum. WI 172/3 in 25.2 overs

19.40 IST: FOUR! In the gap! Hetmyer can't be stopped! He dances down the track and once again, picks the right ball to do so. He flicks it over mid-wicket and the ball races away.

19.38 IST: FOUR! Spoils the over! Slightly full around off, Hope makes Umesh pay as he drives it through wide mid off for a boundary.

19.33 IST: SIX & FIFTY! 50 for Hetmyer. His form continues. This young guy is some talent. He has played with so much authority and fluency in this innings. He surely holds the key for the Windies here. He dances down the track and with the turn lofts it over square leg fence. West Indies 151/3 in 23.3 overs vs India (321/6) in Vizag

19.28 IST: SIX! Hetmyer is on fire! He's dealing in maximums here at Vizag. Fuller and quicker, in the slot for Hetmyer who gets low to this one and slog sweeps it deep into the mid-wicket stands. What a hit. WI 147/3 in 22.3 overs

19.21 IST: SIX! BOOM! 50-run stand up and it has been brought up in style! Hetmyer dances down the track and with the turn hits it over the mid-wicket fence. A very important stand as they two joined association when Windies were in trouble. They need to continue. WI 133/3 in 20.3 overs

19.17 IST: Flatter and on middle, Hetmyer goes back and pulls it towards long on. Umesh there runs to his right, tries to catch the ball but fails to collect. He then ends up kicking it, not on the rope however and long on does the mopping up job. Two taken.

* Yuzvendra Chahal brought on to roll his arm over.

19.11 IST: SIX! Bang! That's gone the distance and Hetmyer is hammering away. All the way! Hetmyer is on the charge here. He uses his feet and takes it on the full. Tonks it over the mid-wicket fence. WI 122/3 in 17.2 overs

19.10 IST: LOVELY! Unplayable! That pitched outside off and it has spun square, beating the outside edge of Shimron's bat as he tries to defend.

19.08 IST: Pushes it down to long on. Jadeja collides with the non-striker in an attempt to stop the ball. No harm done though as the batsmen cross.

19.03 IST: SIX! Smashed by Hetmyer. Juicy full toss offered by Kuldeep, Hetmyer slogs this hard over mid-wicket and manages to clear the rope for a maximum. WI 110/3 in 15.5 overs

19.00 IST: FOUR! When you cut, you should cut hard. Hope does exactly that. Short and outside off, Hope tries to cut but the ball takes the outside edge and reaches the third man fence in a jiffy.

18.55 IST: Lovely shot and a lovely stop in the deep. It is slightly short on middle, Hetmyer picks the length early and pulls it through mid-wicket. Rayudu from long on makes good ground to his left, slides and saves a couple of runs. WI 90/3 in 14 overs

18.53 IST: SIX! It's gone the distance! Safe shot really. Slower through the air, fuller on off, Hope reaches forward and then launches it over long on for a biggie. WI 87/3 in 12.4 overs

18.47 IST: OUT! A gentle touch and the bails are off! Samuels has to take the long walk back as that has clipped the top of off before going into Dhoni's gloves. Another beauty from Kuldeep, his second wicket in his second over. He has the last laugh. It is the googly and it is pitched around middle, Samuels plays inside the line, the turn beats his outside edge and it seems to have cleaned him up. Samuels though feels, it is Dhoni's glove which has disturbed the stumps. He waits there, the umpire have a chat and then go upstairs. Kuldeep removes Samuels for 13. West Indies 78/3 in 12 overs vs India (321/6) in Vizag

* Powerplay 2 has been signaled! Now 4 fielders can be placed outside the ring till the 40th over. Also, Ravindra Jadeja is into the attack now.

18.38 IST: OUT! TIMBER! We did mention the real test begins now for the Windies and Hemraj has failed to pass it. He has been knocked over by a brilliant googly. This is bowled slower through the air outside off, it pitches and comes back in. Kuldeep removes Hemraj for 32. West Indies 64/2 in 9.3 overs vs India (321/6) in Vizag

18.34 IST: FOUR! Nicely played once again! Slight width on offer, Hope opens the face of the bat and guides it fine on the off side. It is very fine and the ball races away to the fence. Boundaries are flowing here.

18.32 IST: FOUR! Ends another over with a boundary does Shai Hope. Excellent over for Windies. 13 from it. Short and outside off, Hope is onto the back foot quickly and then punches it through point for a boundary. Windies off to a flier here.

18.30 IST: BEAUTY! You just have to hope those miss your edges. On a length and around off, it pitches and the shapes away. Hope has to play at it due to the original angle but gets beaten by the away movement.

18.27 IST: FOUR! Slick shot by Hemraj.Back-to-back boundaries! Another ball just ahead of a length, Hemraj lofts it over the bowler's head and into the fence. That shot just shows that the ball us coming onto the bat nicely. WI 50/1 in 7.2 overs

18.26 IST: FOUR! A slight misfield and a boundary! Full and around off, maybe it was not a good ball with third man up. Hemraj opens the face of the bat and guides it towards short third man. The fielder there dives over the ball and a boundary results. WI 42/1 in 7 overs

18.21 IST: OUT! Shami removes Powell for 18. West Indies 36/1 in 6.1 overs vs India (321/6)

18.17 IST: FOUR! Easily done. Yadav errs in his line and bowls a length ball on the leg stump line. Hemraj picks it off his pads and hits it firmly to the fine leg fence for a boundary. Both the Indian bowlers so far have been the culprits of bowling too straight on the pads. WI 32/0 in 5.3 overs

18.13 IST: Shami digs in a short ball and Powell jumps out of the crease to play the pull shot. Doesn't get enough meat on his shot and it goes past the square leg fielder. A couple taken.

18.07 IST: FOUR!  This time Hemraj finds the gap. Yadav continues with his line on middle and serves it short. Hemraj whips it past the left side of the mid-wicket fielder for a boundary. WI 17/0 in 3.3 overs

18.05 IST: FOUR! Nicely timed shot by Powell. Shami goes short again with his length, it's around middle and sitting up nicely for the batsman to play the pull shot. Powell rides the bounce and nails his shot over mid-wicket for a boundary. WI 12/0 in 3 overs

18.03 IST: A nicely timed drive this time. Full and outside off, Hemraj drives but finds the point fielder. We have seen quite a few good shots but it has found the fielders inside the ring. Becomes frustrating for the batsmen.

18.00 IST: Short and wide outside off, plenty of room on offer, Powell stands back and tries to slap it through the line. Fails to middle his shot properly and it rolls in front of point.

17.57 IST: A bumper, around leg, Powell tries his best to hook it across the line but fails to connect. One for the over, signals the square leg umpire.

17.54 IST: FOUR! First boundary of the Windies innings. The line is once again too straight by Shami. It's served on a length and Powell flicks it nicely through square leg for a boundary. WI 5/0 in 0.3 overs

17.51 IST: And we're back for the chase. 322 for the Windies to chase. Shami to start the first over and Powell and Hemraj open for the visitors.

* Now, the chase is tall and won't be an easy one by any means. A target of 322 seems daunting enough, and with the track about to slow up even more, the fight against the Indian spinners will test the character and the skill of the Windies batsmen.

Kohli joined hands with Rayudu and set it all up with a 139-run partnership. The latter departed after scoring a fine 73, but the captain carried on, despite him feeling the heat (literally). Made some useful stands with the rest coming in, the one with Jadeja worth 59 was the pick of them, and the skipper remained unbeaten till the end, powering the Men in Blue to 321.

* India have posted a superb total on the board courtesy another masterclass from Virat Kohli. The Indian skipper doesn't seem to get tired of scoring big runs. Back-to-back hundreds, also broke several records on the way. Incredible effort, especially considering that Rohit and Dhawan were dismissed quite early.

17.24 IST: India score 321/6 in 50 overs against West Indies in Vizag. Virat Kohli 157*, Ambati Rayudu 73

17.22 IST: SIX! Oh, you beauty! How do you do this? Makes it all look so easy. Just ahead of a length outside off, Kohli reaches out to it and lofts it over wide long on. The fielder there is right at the rope, he leaps but it's over his head.

17.21 IST: FOUR! Innovative stuff from Virat Kohli. You don't see much of this from him. Wide outside off, Kohli goes a long way across and paddles it wide of backward square leg. The fielder gives it a chase, dives but can't stop it. Boundary results.

17.15 IST: OUT! McCoy gets his second and it's Jadeja who walks back after being dismissed for 13. IND 307/6 in 48.5 overs

17.12 IST: FOUR! It's raining boundaries here in Vizag. Most of them from Kohli's bat. Roach has been taken to the cleaners by Kohli. The 300 is up for India. Full in length and well outside off, Kohli eyes that cover area and lofts it over the fielder there, just outside the ring. A boundary to end the over. 18 runs from it. IND 303/5 in 48 overs

17.09 IST: FOUR! Streaky runs but they're all the same to the Indians. Wide outside off, full in length, Kohli reaches out to squeeze it out on the off side but gets it off the bottom edge, past the keeper to the third man fence. IND 295/5 in 47.2 overs

17.08 IST: SIX! BANG! Another one from Kohli! That's a beautiful hit. The Vizag crowd goes crazy as Virat Kohli is on fire. Full and wide outside off, the Indian skipper gets low and lifts it cleanly over covers for a maximum. IND 291/5 in 47.1 overs

17.03 IST: SIX! Going on the offensive here now. Superb. Full again, it's the slower one this time, Kohli picks it up and so he gets low to this one. Launches it high and handsome over wide long on for a biggie. 15 off the over so far. IND 282/5 in 46.4 overs

17.02 IST: SIX! What. A. SHOT! That's a massive one off Kohli's bat. Humungous! Full and in the slot, Kohli stands firm and gives it the full swing of the bat. Middles it well and sends it deep into the long on stands for a huge maximum. IND 274/5 in 46.2 overs

17.00 IST: Shortish delivery, Kohli doesn't exactly middle the pull but still manages to place it just wide of deep mid-wicket for a single.

* A friendly warning from umpire Ian Gould. He saw that the Indian batsmen had called for some fluids, but since it's come on a few times too many today, he just lets it be known.

16.52 IST: FOUR! Century number 37 for Virat Kohli in ODI cricket. Brings it up in some style too. Short and wide outside off, the Indian captain rocks onto the back foot and crunches it through the covers to find the fence. Been a controlled knock so far.

16.49 IST: OUT! Pant is gone! Short and flat from around the wicket, sliding in, keeps a little low as Pant goes for the wild slog across the line. It goes under the bat as a result and catches the left-hander on the pads. Loud shout and the finger goes up. Pant talks it out with his skipper and signals the 'T'. Replays roll in and show three reds. Another wicket down for India.

16.44 IST: FOUR! Picked the gap so, so well. Short of a length on off, Kohli takes a step across, gets behind the line and pulls it along the ground through mid-wicket for a boundary. Moves to 97 with that. IND 246/4 in 43 overs

16.42 IST: FOUR! The slower one again and this time Pant picks it up. Fuller around off, the southpaw with grace lofts it straight back over the bowler's head where there's no fielder. Boundary.

16.41 IST: Slower one on the stumps, Pant lofts it over mid-wicket, but not cleanly. It falls safely though in the mid-wicket region and a couple of runs are collected.

16.39 IST: FOUR! Smashed by Pant! Length ball outside off, he has room to free his arms and he does so. Dismisses it out of his sight by smashing it on the up through the right of mid off for a boundary. IND 234/4 in 42.2 overs

16.30 IST: OUT! McCoy removes MS Dhoni for 20. First ODI wicket for Obed McCoy. He missed out on Kohli before, but gets Dhoni, which isn't bad at all considering the stature of the man. A back-of-the-hand length ball going across, Dhoni looks to play at it and he gets beaten as the ball goes between bat and pad. It takes the off bail and the Indian keeper is out of here. Timely breakthrough for the Windies. IND 222/4 in 40.2 overs

16.19 IST: Good stop from Roach, saves a vital run for his side. Kohli goes deep inside the crease and works it through backward square leg. Seems it will go away to the fence, but Roach in the deep moves to his right and stops it.

* Kohli's next target - A 37th ODI century.

16.17 IST! SIX! Off Dhoni's bat! An absolute rare sight to see. IND 211/3 in 38 overs

* Kohli is the quickest to get to the landmark (in 205 innings) and becomes the 4th Indian to do so.

16.12 IST: 10,000 FOR VIRAT KOHLI! And the crowd has gone wild. Superb stuff from the prolific Indian skipper. He just eases this down to long on and brings it up with a single.

16.09 IST: FOUR! 2 runs needed to reach 10K.  Nicely done. Full and darted outside off, Kohli plays the whip-drive square through point and sends it across the boundary line.  IND 193/3 in 35.3 overs

16.04 IST: Flat, short and going down, Dhoni works it in front of short fine leg and gets to the other end. It's actually gone off the pads so a leg bye is signalled.

16.00 IST: Dhoni is off the mark instantly. Flat and on off, punched down to long on off the back foot for a single.

* MS Dhoni is the next batsman in.

15.57 IST: OUT! Nurse removes Rayudu for 73. Bowled 'em! Windies needed a wicket and they got it. Partnership of 139 comes to an end. Off break around off, spins in and keeps low too. Rayudu looks to play the big slog sweep but it goes under his bat and disturbs the stumps behind. Nurse does it again. Can the visitors make further inroads from here? India 179/3 in 32.2 overs vs West Indies in Vizag

15.54 IST: FOUR! Classic Kohli and his vintage shots. IND 177/2 in 31.5 overs

15.50 IST: Drifting in around off, turning away, Kohli is on the front foot to push this towards mid off. Single taken.

* Seems the debutant injured his left shoulder on that attempted catch on the previous. We have a slight halt in play as a result. Seeing this, the umpires smartly decide to call for Drinks.

15.56 IST: Dropped! But again, a valiant attempt. Would have been a blinder had he held on to that. Length ball outside off, Rayudu slaps this aerially to the left of wide mid off. McCoy there runs to his left, dives, gets his hand to it but it's just a little far. Can't hold on. Two runs to the total.

15.39 IST: FOUR! Another one by Rayudu! Impressive stuff. A sight to behold. Those strong wrists of his. Full and just outside off, Kohli walks a step across, comes out and whips it through mid-wicket to find the fence. IND 163/2 in 29.3 overs

15.38 IST: FOUR! Superb. Showing the attacking intent once again as Rayudu steps out. stays leg side and drills it through the left of mid off for a boundary. IND 158/2 in 29.1 overs

15.30 IST: Dropped! Technically. No way that could have been taken. Short of a length wide outside off, slower in pace, Rayudu slaps it back to the left of the bowler. Roach sticks his hand out but can only get his fingertips on it.

* Kemar Roach back on.

15.31: FOUR! Takes the aerial route and gets the desired result. Rayudu stays leg side, goes inside out as he lofts it well over the covers for a boundary.

15.25 IST: FOUR! Easy pickings for Ambati Rayudu and he gets to his fifty with that. His 9th in this format. Short and down the leg side, he pulls it down towards fine leg. The fielder there tries to stop it with a dive but cannot.

15.20 IST: FOUR! Not a bad ball at all but that's a lovely shot. Length ball on the fifth stump line, Rayudu stands tall and hammers this on the up through extra cover. Mid off gives the chase, but has no chance to stop it. IND 131/2 in 25.5 overs

15.18 IST: Fifty for Virat Kohli. His 49th in ODI cricket. He gets to the milestone with a drive to mid off and scampers to the other end. He's well set, will look to get another big one today.

15.14 IST: Virat Kohli goes past Sachin Tendulkar as the Indian batsman with the most runs against Windies in ODIs.

Most runs for Ind vs WI in ODIs:

1574 V KOHLI *
1573 S Tendulkar
1348 R Dravid
1142 S Ganguly

15.08 IST: DROPPED! Oh, how could you, Jason Holder? Big moment in this game. Would have been a great moment for young Obed McCoy. Full and outside off, slower in pace, Kohli looks to go big downtown but doesn't connect well at all. It skies towards long off, where Holder goes back, stretches his hands out but can't keep a hold of it.

15.03 ISTDevendra Bishoo to Ambati Rayudu, Good work from Roach out in the deep. Rayudu cuts this half tracker through the covers. Kemar moves to his left and stops it inside the rope. Two runs taken.

14.59 IST: FOUR! Short ball and Rayudu latches onto this one. Moves inside the line as it's pitched on middle and pulls it aerially over square leg. One bounce and across the rope. Good shot. IND 107/2 in 20.2 overs

*Obed McCoy is back into the attack.

14.48 IST: FOUR! The 50-run stand is up with that. Poor length again from Bishoo, the line isn't great either. Short and wide outside off, Kohli camps back and cuts it square through point for the second boundary of the over. IND 93/2 in 17.3 overs

14.46 IST: FOUR! Poor from Bishoo. A half-tracker on the stumps, Kohli rocks back and whips it through mid-wicket for a boundary. The timing was excellent on that. IND 89/2 in 17.1 overs

14.45 IST: A partnership developing for India after they lost both their openers inside Powerplay 1. Windies will be content with the way this game has gone so far for them. But they will need to chip away at the wickets to get an upper hand.

*Drinks

14.34 IST: FOUR! A flighted ball landing wide outside off, Kohli leans forward, stretches out for it as he tries to drive away from the body but the ball doesn't spin back in much. As a result, it catches the outside edge and speeds past short third man for a boundary. IND 76/2 in 14.4 overs

14.31 ISTFOUR! Wow, what a shot! Bishoo flights this one in the air and lands it full around off, Rayudu shimmies down the track and drills his drive through covers. No chance for the fielder in the deep. IND 66/2 in 13.2 overs

14.28 IST: FOUR! Lovely shot! That will release all the pressure. Nurse gives this one some extra air but lands it fuller in length outside off. Rayudu takes a stride forward, opens the face of the bat and crunches it through extra cover for a boundary. IND 61/2 in 12.5 overs

14.20 IST: Bowling change. It's time for some leg-spin from Devendra Bishoo. There is surely assistance from the pitch, let's see how he goes. A slip in place...

14.15 IST: FOUR! Feed him room and you will suffer every time. Roach bowls it short and outside off, Kohli rocks on the back foot and punches it sweetly through covers for a glorious boundary. IND 49/2 in 10 overs

14.10 IST: OUT! Nurse removes Dhawan LBW for 29. That's hitting leg. Success for Windies. They have now removed both the Indian openers, that too, quite cheaply. A great use of the technology by the visiting team. Nurse bowls this one slower through the air and lands it around leg. Dhawan closes the face of his bat as he tries to tap it on the leg side. But he fails to make any connection and is rapped on the pads. They appeal but the umpire turns it down. Nurse, though, is very sure and convinces Holder to take the DRS. India 40/2 in 8.4 overs

14.02 IST: SIX! Just over the fielder at third man. Roach digs in a short delivery outside off, Dhawan ramps it over and for a moment it appears that it will find the fielder. But the ball eventually has enough wings to sail over Powell. IND 38/1 in 7.2 overs

14.00 IST: Another bowling change. Jason Holder has removed himself from the attack and brought on Roach

13.57 IST: Bowling change. Jason Holder is introducing the spin of Ashley Nurse in the seventh over.

13.53 IST: FOUR! No half measures there! This is absolutely crashed. Holder delivers it short and wide outside off, Dhawan rocks back and whacks it through backward point for a boundary. IND 29/1 in 4.5 overs

13.51 IST: FOUR! Deliberate edge? Holder dishes out a length delivery in the channel outside off. Dhawan looks to play it with an angled bat but it takes the outside half of his blade and runs through the vacant first slip region for a boundary. IND 25/1 in 4.3 overs

13.48 IST: FOUR! Off the mark on the third ball he faces. A classy shot. Roach delivers it on a full length and outside off, Virat strides forward and unfurls a beautiful square drive for a boundary. Lovely placement. The skipper is up and running. IND 19/1 in 3.4 overs

*Indian captain Virat Kohli is in who is just 81 runs away from 10,000 runs in ODIs. He averages 99.75 at this venue. Bradman-esque!

13.45 IST: OUT! Roach removes Rohit for 4. India 15/1 in 3.1 overs vs West Indies in Vizag

13.41 IST: FOUR! Impeccable timing by Dhawan again. Holder overdoes his length this time, it's full and around off, Dhawan plays it with the angle and flicks it past the left side of the mid-wicket fielder. Hemraj gives the chase but fails to pull it back before the fence. IND 13/0 in 2.3 overs

13.40 IST: FOUR! Dhawan also has a boundary to his name now. Holder bowls it shortish and it's angled into the batsman. Dhawan shuffles across a bit and helps it around through square leg. Good timing and it races away to the fence. IND 9/0 in 2.2 overs

13.37 IST: Just one run from an excellent over from Roach.

*Kemar Roach is given the ball from the other end. A false start first up as Dhawan wasn't ready and pulls out. Reload, Roach...

13.32 IST: FOUR! Rohit is off the mark!  Holder errs in his line and serves it on the pads of the batsman. Rohit deflects it neatly and finds the fence at fine leg. India are away as well. IND 4/0 in 0.4 overs

13.31 IST: Jason Holder to Rohit Sharma, A cracking piece of fielding at point! Holder starts with a good length delivery in the channel outside off, Rohit hits it firmly square of the wicket on the off side where Hetmyer dives full length to his right from backward point to make an outstanding stop.

13.30 IST: Jason Holder has the first new ball in his hand as he runs in to bowl the first over of the match. A slip in place. Here we go...

13.28 IST: The players are taking the field now. Not far from the start of play!

13.20 IST: Windies' skipper, Jason Holder says that he isn't too bothered about bowling first. Reckons that the pitch won't change much throughout the course of this game. Adds that they would like to restrict the Indian team and then take the run chase deep. Admits that they need to be clinical with the bat during the chase. Informs about the one change, Obed McCoy is making his debut, replacing Oshane Thomas in the playing XI.

13.12 IST: India's skipper, Virat Kohli says that it looks a good wicket and may get slower in the second half which also suits their bowling combination for this match. Mentions that Kuldeep is playing in place of Khaleel and feels that it's a perfect bowling combination to defend the total.

13.10 IST: Teams:

Windies: Kieran Powell, Chandrapaul Hemraj, Shai Hope(w), Marlon Samuels, Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell, Jason Holder(c), Ashley Nurse, Devendra Bishoo, Kemar Roach, Obed McCoy

India: Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli(c), Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni(w), Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Umesh Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal

*Pitch report - It's a very dry looking surface with no live grass. The bowlers will have to get their lengths right and have to rely on their variations. There will be help for the spinners. Also, dew might be a factor later on in the evening. Chasing appears to be a better option here.

13.03 IST: India win the toss and opt to bat first! Kuldeep in for Khaleel

12.58 IST: India have won 6 out of 7 ODIs at Vizag. The record could be extended further unless Windies find a way to break India's top order.

12.49 IST: With the toss just a few minutes away you can feast on what Sourav Ganguly said about MS Dhoni going into the World Cup

12.15 IST: The teams have arrived at the stadium

12.00 IST: Hello and welcome to our live coverage. The match is set to start from 13.30 IST while the toss will take place in exactly an hour from now. Stay tuned with us for all the action from Vizag.

Brief Preview: It has been a mismatch of gigantic proportions so far and it looks highly unlikely that West Indies would have much of a chance against the well-oiled machine that India seem to be at home. Notwithstanding the Indian bowlers' profligate display, albeit on a belter, the home team made easy work of what looked like a stiff 323-run target in the series opener, taking a 1-0 lead in the five-match rubber. However, despite the convincing margin of victory, India will be better off with a bit of frugality from their bowlers at the Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium. But the lack of enough game-time for their middle-order may not hold India in good stead in the run-up to the World Cup. (READ FULL PREVIEW HERE)
