Indian opener Rohit Sharma is in blistering form in the ongoing ODI series against West Indies. The stylish opener has broken many records in the first four ODI's and now broken another one in the series decider at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram. Rohit has entered the elite list of players to have hit 200+ sixes in ODI cricket. Right now, there is only one other individual from India in that list and that is Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
In the Mumbai ODI, the ‘Hitman’ overtook Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of 195 sixes when he smashed 162 runs which included 20 fours and 4 sixes. Now in the series decider, he smashed 4 huge sixes to enter the elite club. The Hitman has now 202 sixes in ODI cricket The former Indian captain has cleared the boundary rope 218 times in ODI's.
Previously, in the first ODI of the series, Rohit made 152 runs to overtake Tendulkar and David Warner's tally of maximum 150's in this format.
In the fourth ODI, Rohit also became the second batsman to hit two 150+ scores in an ODI series. Zimbabwean Hamilton Masakadza is the first player to do so. He did it in 2009 vs Kenya.
Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi tops the overall list of batsmen to hit the maximum sixes in ODI cricket with 351 in 398 matches, behind him are left-handers Chris Gayle and Sanath Jayasuriya.
Besides this, the Indian vice-captain has also complete 1000 ODI runs in 2018 as he has scored 1028 runs in 19 ODI He overtakes Jonny Bairstow’s (1025) tally of most runs in 2018 ODI's. While, 'Run Machine' Kohli is currently leading the charts with 1169 runs in just 13 innings.
