The on-field 'bromance' between South Africa captain Faf du Plessis and fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has not only created a furore on the social media but has also given sleepless nights to the latter's girlfriend. During the opening Test between India and South Africa in Cape Town, Kagiso Rabada’s picked up the all-important wicket of all-rounder Hardik Pandya who was taking all the Proteas bowlers to the cleaners with his belligerent hitting.
Pandya was batting on 93 and frustrated South African bowlers with his innovative stroke-making.
After removing the dangerous all-rounder, du Plessis not only felt extremely ecstatic but also kissed the forehead of the young fast bowler. To remove Pandya, Rabada dished out a short-pitched delivery which the Indian batter slashed hard only to edge it to the wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock who completed the safe catch.
The 24-year old Pandya, along with Bhuvneshwar Kumar, frustrated the South African attack and built a crucial partnership of 99 runs for the eighth wicket in the first innings.
Soon after the match, du Plessis’ picture of kissing Rabada went viral. Meanwhile going a notch further, the South African skipper has now come out in open about his obsession for Rabada and shared a picture on his Instagram account. Du Plessis wrote, “This is what you get when you become the nr 1 fast bowler in the world, a massive _. Well done @rabada_25. You deserve it champion.”
After the warm post, du Plessis Instagram account was flooded with many hilarious comments. But Rabada's comment on his captain's post stole the limelight. The fast bowler wrote," My girlfriend is complaining."
Interestingly, this is not the firs time du Plessis has showered his love openly on the young quick. Back in November 2016, when Rabada had won South Africa the Perth Test, Faf had famously kissed the bowler. Later, an elated Faf had announced in the press conference: “I am sleeping with him.”
Rabada has recently been rewarded for his splendid outing in the Cape Town Test, he replaced veteran England pacer James Anderson to claim the No. 1 spot in the latest ICC Test Rankings. In his short international stint, the 22-year old pacer has proved his credentials at the big stage especially in red ball cricket where he's seen as the next big thing.
The hosts won the first Test by 72 runs against India to take the 1-0 lead in the three-match series, they successfully defended a paltry score of 208 runs. The second Test starts on Saturday in Centurion.
